I am wanting to move the infusion sites to under my swim shorts. Right now all I do is use my midsection and want to begin to 'hide' the site more. I am rather slim and use the MiniMed silouette infusion deal.... Anyone help me on how/where to have sites??

I use the quick sets but I often put them on my inner thigh. I have heard of putting it on your butt :o but it seems to me they would be more uncomfortable not to mention the added risk of pulling it out.

Before answering, are you male or female?

I am a female also using the Minimed Sil.. I am also thin, I use it on my stomach and the upper part of my butt, or hip if you wish to say that..I prefer the butt area over the stomach since it hides better..

Typically women wear sets UNDER the belt line and men wear them ABOVE. That's due to the distribution of fat. Your sets should be hidden by all but the tinest suits. I learned that fact from a number of sources including a not-shy gal who gladly tugged at her pants to reveal where she had placed her set. :) That was at a pumper's group meeting. That's when the discussion turned to male vs female fat distribution. I can rarely keep a set under my belt due to the lack of fat there. I've got a bit more than enough <g> above my belt so that's where my sets go 99.99999% of the time. I've lost 20 lbs this year (on purpose) and am now pretty close to my ideal weight. If I was as skinny as I was as a teen, I don't think I could find a place for my sets!

I guess I am a atypical female because one of my favorite spots is in the front center with the catheter just under my ribcage. I don't have fat there but the sets are comfortable for me.
One place I found that was good which you could conceal under swimtrunks is the front of the upper leg. Like right below where the legband of some briefs would sit. I get good absorbtion from that area too but you have to be careful of the blood vessels. I have a lot of them close to the surface which are visible so I aim to avoid them!

Well then answer me this.. IF I should stay above the waist line, how do I conceal the site while shirt off in Public? ALSO... I was testing the upper inner thigh. OUCH... anyone have some ideas "that work" for the pain?

I don't put them on the inner thigh and I definitely avoid the outer thigh/hip area. Ow. We talked about that the other day so I won't start up again. But I use the FRONT of my upper thigh, very close to the top of the leg. I find them comfortable and painless in that area.

You really have to experiment with set locations to find comfortable spots that aren't painful. Everyone is built differently. The front of the upper thigh is a good location for some but may not be for you.

I also use the siloutte (sp?) I have been using top and top/outside of my thighs for a while now for the same reason (summer) it doesn't seem to hurt too much more than the stomach. Of course once it's in it shouldn't / won't hurt. I could imagine that the inner thigh would hurt because that is typically a sensitive area. The cool thing about the thighs is that I can insert the infusion set so it clips in at the bottom instead of the side so when showering the water doesn't get in at all and I don't have to use the "plug clip". In other words, when inserting, the needle would be facing you.
Hope this helps!!

I've found that the inner thigh works great (for me). I started using the stomach, but thigh just seems to make things so much easier (changing, using the john  etc) and will also help reveal the site once I stsrt wearing shorts.

I will never use my inner thighs.. I have heard that you can damage the skin really bad in that area

I use the Sil-sets also and use the tops of my thighs almost exclusively. Haven't had any pain so far. If you hold your leg straight out and flex your thigh muscle you can feel the peaks and valleys where the muscles seperate. Aim for a valley because there's a little extra fatty tissue there. Works for me. :)
