Hello all,
My name is Lisa, I live in Central Florida in the Ocala National Forest (ONF). I have been happily married for 12-years now, and we have two boys whom I home school. I am studying to be a medical transcriptionist so that I can work from home and be my own boss.
I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2003. I am taking tests to see if I have PCOS. My liver function is high, and other problems lead me to believe this is part of, if not the reason for my diabetes.
I joined to learn what others are going through, and hopefully get some support when things are going rough. I try to exercise, but when I do, I get more weak and tired. I am hoping this new round of testing will show why. I do test my BS and don't exercise when they are too high or too low, and still I get tired. I do best when I can work and rest periodically during the day now.
My weight has leveled off, but I am way too heavy for my height. I want to ride endurance rides with my Arab mare, I want to enjoy long busy days again.
My ultimate dream is to participate in the Ms. Fitness contest. A distant dream considering how exercise tires me right now, but still a goal I work for!
I hope I can find all I need here, and look forward to participating on this board. Thank you.
Hi Lisa,
Welcome to the foum! There's good info here, and lots of good experience to be passed around. I'm Type 1 but there are lots of Type 2's here like yourself, and we all comiserate well together, LOL.
If you can type fast, medical transcription is a nice career, esp. if you can do it from home! I'm jealous if you can pull that off. And don't give up on your fitness dreams...Always strive to be better!
Again, welcome!

Hi Lisa,
I am sure you will find some helpful infomation and some interesting people here. Feel free to ask away as there is always someone willing to answer.
I am 25 and T1. They thought I was T2 in the very beginning but it turned out I was actually T1 :(. I have also battled with weight issues. I have been as little as 100 lbs and other times been as much as 195 lbs for my 5'6 body. Exercising isn't easy, even though I have been continuous with it, I haven't seen much improvment. Same with dieting.
I also am a student going into nursing. I originally wanted to be a Medical Asst so I had to take Med Transcription classes. Those classes were nooooooooooo fun and after sitting for 8 hours typing, I had ENOUGH. If you need any help in that I would be more than willing to help.
Glad to see a new face and hope you get to know us a little better.

I am Type 2 as well and I also find that a small amount of exercise makes me tired. I got no sympathy from the consultant physician and all he would say is "don't stop, keep training".
My liver function is high, and other problems lead me to believe this is part of, if not the reason for my diabetes
I also have a high liver function and what the consultant said goes like this - don't forget this is for me and might not apply to everyone. The high liver function is almost certainly caused by fat on the liver. Lose weight off the abdomen and the fat on the liver goes and the function will return to normal. Also, lose that weight and the diabetes will improve and I will need less medication.
So, it is possible that your weight is worsening both your liver function and your diabetes and not the liver function causing the diabetes. But then why not ask your doctor the specific question if it worries you. :)
