Hi all. I found out that I have Type 2 in April. Went to the doctor cause my toes were tingling. I'm working to get the numbers down. I'm running about 190 now. Down from 374 when I first found out. I'm doing the low carb diet and walking 30 min. aday. So far I've lost 9 lbs. My hubby is type 2 also but his numbers aren't very high. He just went over 126 on the Fasting blood sugar. We both come from families with diabetes so we weren't surprized. I'm taking 2 500 mg metformin with breakfast and supper

I love the influx of new members! Welcome!

Is it just me, or have a lot of Type-2's been joining up lately? This is a good thing, I think you all have common experiences to share that will be helpful for you all.

Make your husband join--How long has he been a Type-2?

It is nice to meet all of you. Barb pointed me here and it is so nice to read the posts. I've already learned a few things. Today is a day to check. It was 193 at fasting and 213 after breakfast. Got to get some walking gone today.

:) Hi Lynnpenny and welcome, you have come to the right place. I am also T2 (since September '04) and also on 2x 500mg Metformin. This is a great place to come and learn about diabetes and stay sane when things don't go quite right.

I traveled to Austin last week for sil graduation. I found that if I thought about what I was doing I could find something to eat. Not what I eat at home but then it was a treat to eat some things. My sugar readings are continuing to fall so I'm feeling like I'm on the right track. I got lots of exercise just walking to things since we parked 2 miles at least from the place we were going. I took sugar free jello peanut butter and some veggies to munch in the car. It was a good trip.
