Sounds to me as if you're getting adjust to having lower B/G.

The first few times I started lowering them consistently, I feel very strange too. Now, however, I sometimes don't start feeling strange until I get below 4, then I feel as if I indeed had something alcoholic to drink-----but, IMHO, that is much better than being above 7.5---I Really hate being that high.

Yes, if you've been running 15.4 as a common reading, then even dropping below 12 will cause major changes in how you feel, see, touch, taste and even smell things.

If you're coming down to 8 or even 7 occasionally, then there will be HUGE changes.

But eventually, you'll get to the point where 5.4 to 6 will become normal and you'll feel good at this level.

Hey there kath_uk,

I agree with those feelings being the adjustment of your body to the insulin and the regulation of your blood sugar levels. Glad you found us...

Yes, I also found that as my sugar levels dropped I felt strange and that went as soon as I became stable.

The effect on your eyes could be caused by the fact that the refractive index of the fluid in your eye alters as the sugar level changes. This is why people with high sugar levels sometimes have blurred vision. I certainly did. This gets better as the sugar level drops. Your eyes should get better as your body gets used to the new regime.

Just wait until your body thinks you are starving! When I first experienced a 96, my body was screaming, "FEED ME, SEYMORE! FEED MMMEEEeeeee!" It took me weeks to believe I was actually feeling "normal".
