Kimbo, I know my meter can vary as much as 20 points on the American scale, but is usually w/in 10-15. For example, I could test twice in a row and get 125 and 137. If you have a spare meter, try checking them against each other to see if you have a similar result. Also try testing it w/the solution and make sure it's calibrated correctly. Another thing you might want to try is, next time you go in for your bloodwork, do a fingerstick at the same time the bloodwork is being taken.

Kimbo ...
I also have an accu-check and have noticed some variation in the readings but not as severe. Take Amanda's advice and bring it with you when you get your next blood work completed. I do it every month. When my readings are 5 -6 the meter is only 0.3 - 0.5 higher (within 10%). As my readings at the lab approach 9 the error of the meter seems to be greater ( as high as 15%). So don't be too concerned with your meter until you can determine its true error.
Hope this helps.

Whenever I doubt my bizarre readings from a meter, I test my bf's level. He's like a walking bottle of control solution (readings are always 97, 98, 99, 97, etc.). If my main meter and back-up meter show the same readings for my bf's levels, I know the meter(s) is/are working.... then I'm allowed to freak out over my bizarre reading.
