As I recall, several folks had asked the question about pumps and traveling via air. Just a quick note to let you all know how my trip went.
No problems. My pump set off the metal detector in Sacramento, but they TSA folks totally understood and gave me a quick "wand" job and sent me on my way, only a short delay. I was hoping for the body cavity search, but no luck! ;)
In Washington DC, Dullas airport, my pump didn't even set off the detector and I breezed right through.
In both airports, my backpack with insulin, extra sets, backup syringes, etc... made it through the x-ray without question.
FYI...

(Ok, sorry if this got repeated, but I posted it earlier, and it disappeared... )
LOL, Koblenz...I got the "wand job" in Denver, also...One lady thought I had mobile phones on me  , and wanted me to send them through the x-ray! I was like, Not! I explained to her that they could Not go through, so she had me step aside for further examination...lol. Darn, Carwy's port didn't even set it off!! :p Meanwhile, every time they wanded my right ankle, the little alarm started beeping......really Weird, as I've never had any surgeries on it or pins put into it! Wonder what the heck!? :1eye:

I have 2 - the Animas 1250 and my Deltec (which is actually my "primary" pump :)). I had the MM507, 512 & Deltec at one point, but I traded my 512 for the Deltec, and my 507 for the Animas....gotta admit, I really dug my 507, and almost didn't give it up....But, for the money I got off of the new one (Animas), I figured I'd "go for it"...lol (Every bit helps ;)). :D

Why do you have two? Forgive me, but I have never heard of this method? Do you use different insulins for basal and bolous or something?

I don't use them at the same time, but since they cannot go through x-ray machines (i.e. at the airport), and since I bring both (one to use and one as a backup), I have to have both of them on me when I go through the security. :D

Oh, okay. I get it! I didn't think you would use them both at the same time, but then you said you were wearing them and I got all confused!

My carryon bag with pump supplies got hand searched twice. When we got home I found one of my spare batteries had a sticker on it that said "pump". Weird.
