Hi, I was diagnosed on wed with type I, Im totally new to this. Anyways just wanted to say hello, looked like a good forum to learn and meet others on.

So glad you found us, I think you will happy you did ;) . This is an awesome place for support, encouragement, advice, info, and good old-fashioned fun too :p

I'm also Type 1, dx'ed 3 years ago...which in some ways feels like it was so long ago, but also almost feels like it was yesterday at the same time. I'm currently on the MM Paradigm 511 pump. I'm doing ok, but could be doing better control wise. The last few weeks my numbers have been crazy which I'm not sure is due to pump issues or what :confused:, but I'm trying to get back on track. No doubt, Diabetes can be a difficult disease to manage, but it can be done and you can live a long, healthy, and happy life regardless of whether you have it or not.

My advice to you would be to keep learning all you can about your disease, gather a good medical team and team for support (like this one or other support group), test often, and manage your blood sugar as best as possible. Yes, you will run into tough times, we all have had them, but your diabetes can be controlled if the effort is made. Essentially, managing your diabetes is really just keeping a healthy lifestyle. I'm not saying that's easy (it's not :( ), but once you get into a routine things do fall into place ;) .

Thanks everyone, well Im 25, live near Seattle WA. I pretty much should have gone to the doc's month's ago when I started feeling crappy, but I didn't. My a1c was at 13%, I actually had my bg down to 139 this afternoon but thay are back up around 300 again(hope I am saying all this right) I take half a glyburide 5mg pill in the morning and 10 units of 70/30 at 6&6, also humalog before meals if I'm over 200 bg. I sure dont feel that great even when my numbers seem to go down, but I havent felt this good in awhile :thumbsup: . I don't know if I should take more insulin if it doesn't go down or what, I see the educator again next week and the dietrician.

Hey there... WELCOME.
You will love it here. I have been T1 for 22 years and still struggling. Take it one day at a time, your body needs time to get accustomed to having normal blood sugar levels and to the insulin.It will take some time, but you will be fine. I would suggest not to make any changes till you see your next apointment. Hopw to chat w/ you :)

Welcome BJC....this is a wonderful place...give it some time before you go adjusting medication. There is a honeymoon stage and also each day could be different. There are some on here that take oral meds and it took them a while before they kicked in ( I myself am on a pump so not to sure about how the oral meds work). Take it one day at a time and all will work out.

Welcome aboard. We're all in this mess together, so ask away and you'll probably get more info than you bargained for. This disease is an hourly struggle, but it becomes second nature in time. Hope you feel better soon.
