Hmmmm...The Smith's trainer needs to get in contact with me. Sometime soon, hopefully. I haven't really dived into this thing yet, but I'm thinking I could get it up and running reasonably well if I had to. But I'm going to practice a little patience.
And it did come with a leather case--I did not know that. But I guess the Cozmonitor doesn't fit with the case???

And YUP, comes with a case.... but Carlye and I found it fits in most cell phone cases too - - only problem is you have to cut a hole in the bottom for the meter. I loved, loved, loved having the meter attached to the pump!!!

That's the main reason the pump is used with tubing; so you won't lose it...once you get hooked up you won't make that mistake again.

There's really nothing I could have done with it tonight anyway except gawk at it--I'm trying to wait for the trainer, and as it turns out, I just changed my insertion set at 5AM this morning, so I feel compelled to use it up. I will be posting my experiences with the Cozmore, though, no worries.

Duck, when I upgraded from mm508 to the Animas 1200, the day it arrived I watched the dvd, read the book and hooked up. I figured the basics were the same. This would give me time to play till I was trained. But that is me and every one is different. Just wanted to let you know I had no trouble switching on my own. And knowing you, I doubt you would.
By the way,   on your new pump. I am sure you will love it.

Actually, the pump does fit in the leather case, it is just a real tight fit at first. After a few weeks, the leather stretches and it loosen's up.
Also, be advised, you can get a backup leather case for free. When I called and ordered my reoccuring supplies from Deltec, I mentioned that my case was getting kind of tattered and the sent me a new one, gratis! I also asked about getting a different kind of case that fits with the monitor better and has a swivel clip and they said they are working on a few new designs. Of course no date of availability yet!

Duck,
Feel free to "steal" any name suggestions off of Carlyes list... :p they may be a little girly but i think they would still work for you....
I think you should name it "the duckling"
I dunno what I'm going to name it. The currently attached pump is "Locutus", of course (I guess that makes me Picard? Nooo, I'm not cool enough). Actually, I rarely ever referred to my 508 by its name (probably from a lack of acknowledging it too much in public and a lack of having anyone who is close to me who understands what the **** a Borg is), so I don't know if I'll name this one.
I may just refer to it as "my pancreas"...In the morning I can ask my wife "Hunny, have you seen my pancreas?" and during highs I can say "My pancreas is acting up"...

My pump is garfield cause it has its own attitude and beeps at me at the most inconvient times.
I did not get a leather case with my cozmo - I didn't even know they had one for it - so not I just finished ordering one on line.
I do not like the plastic "holster" as it falls off my belt all the time.

I'll probably become intrepid and take a stab (no pun intended) at it over this weekend. I'm kinda weird in that I am a technology guy who doesn't get caught up in it all--I don't are about the latest, fastest PCs (my current PC at home is a 800mhz Celeron that I rescued from a garbage heap), I gave my wireless router away and my cell phone has a rotary dial on it. In any case, I'll watch the DVD tonight (why couldn't they send a VHS tape? j/k) and decide if I want to forge ahead.
I also get my first vials of Novolog this weekend, so I wonder if I should add them to the new stuff in my life, lol.
Dewey

Duck, please let us know how the Novolog goes...I'm quite curious of other insulins & methods, so this is of pretty great interest. Up till now, have you been on Humalog (please forgive me if you've posted about it before, can't remember at the moment...:whistling ).
I don't expect ANYONE to remember all my details--heck, I barely remember what I need to remember!
I am currently on Humalog, been on Humalog (after switching from Regular) since 2001, then the pump came shortly thereafter.
I will definitely post my thoughts on Novolog.

Good deal, Duck.
Best of luck with your new pump. From one that has had the Cozmo since July 03, the best route is use the software to program the thing. It is real easy to do and the s/w allows you to see most anything you need. Just be aware when setting your correction factor that Deltec decided to not allow changes to the ratio by ones after 30, it goes by fives and if your correction factor is lower than that, i.e. a higher number, I have been told they increment by tens. So if you have a correction factor of 37mg/dl:1U, you will have to either select 35:1 or 40:1.
Also, be careful in using the Insulin On Board(IOB) function to reduce your insulin dose if you are eating with insulin still in action. It has been my experience that, for some reason, my BG goes high when I use the Cozmo's function but it stays normal if I manually calculate the correct dose.
I look forward to hearing how it works for you. BTW, I use Novolog in the Cozmo but I do not have any experience with Humalog, so I can't help with a comparison, however I have not had any issues with Novolog in the pump.

the kids swear colors tell a persons personality, according to them the slate gray is for a calm, precise person. Some one a whole lot more organized than I am.
My blue one is for my scatterbrained blonde ways. A person who could lose the shoes on her feet, or trip over them!
Purple is for a bubbly happy helpful person. (the kind you want to shoot early in the mornings)
I have NO idea if the kids are correct on this, not that I pay that much attention to them, so it could be meaningless!
The cars are my hubbies really - he keeps em working right, the mustang was his very first car and we still have it, the falcon I got used while in college a 100 years ago, and the 3000 was his Christmas gift from me in 94, but they do require a lot of attention, so I drive a Saturn ION. We are in the market for a 1995 SHO, 5 speed - RED, (he wants it real bad) but they are hard to find in good shape. Hubbie is a car nut to the first degree!

I've got a blue pump. I'm not blonde, NOR scatterbrained. :) I wanted TEAL, but MM stopped making that color when they came out with the Paradigm series.

exciting stuff. i hooked myself up to my cozmo myself and didn't have any problems at all and i wasn't a pumper before! its sooo user friendly. but then again i'm as stubborn as the day is long and have no patience, i wouldn't recommend this to everybody. but my trainer was going to be away for 4 weeks, did they honestly expect me to wait!
i don't know if this still applies, but you mentioned you'd just put in a new set but if you have a mm 508 it uses luer lock reservoir and tubing correct? you could fill your reservoir, disconnect the line, reprime, then reattach. save jabbing yourself again. would work as long as everything is luer lock. one of the nice things about the cozmo as well is that you can pick and choose which function you want to use from the load menu, you don't have to go through them all, step by step. don't know if other pumps do this but my friend with a minimed (not sure about the model) can't do this, she has to go through each step and all of them.
you sooo have to name you pump! with the software you can customize it so that its name appears on the pump's screen. my pump is named pumpy mcpumperson (not terribly original but it makes me laugh). sadly the pump screen only had room for pumpy mcp. there's also another place where you can add other information.
have fun ... well as much fun as you can have with t1.

Hmmmm, ok, if I could have, I would have gotten either a rainbow colored one....or even Neon Green! :D I'd probably not only be labeled as disorganized, but scatter-brained...hehehe :whistling
Okay, here's the reason I haven't set myself up on the Cozmore yet: I was reeeeeal busy this weekend (this will be long, so cut to the bottom of this post for the abbreviated version): I bought this house last November, and somehow missed the 100-year old oak tree that had died in my backyard during the inspection process. I had it cut down because it was DEAD and could tip over at any time, and it was NOT light. Well, the cut-up pieces were sitting piled up nicely in my backyard...until this weekend. I rented a truck from the city and piled all that wood (it was at least 60 feet tall when upright) into the back of the truck, most of it by myself...(my nice neighbor felt bad for me on the morning of day 2 and came over to help out).
I can assure you the lightest "piece" was about 50 pounds, this tree was at least 18 inches in diameter toward the top, almost 2.5 feet at its stump (which is still in the ground)...We counted 80+ rings in the stump, so it was old. And it used to be a MIGHTY oak.
Anyway, I was tired Friday night, and beat to death by Saturday night (we are allowed here in Manassas to dump ANYTHING in the back of the City truck as long as it is not caustic, so I threw a lot of old furniture away and cut down some more ugly trees that had to be dumped). This 14-foot dump truck was overflowing by Sunday morning.
So I was tired. Couldn't even bring myself to play with my new Cozmore. The trainer called me Sunday as I was laid out in a hammock out back, and we have a date for the 25th--I told her I will be hooked up and running by then, and she said that was cool.
So, I watched the video today and have loaded a test reservoir, and am currently using the Cozmore as my glucose meter. Also, I started my Novolog yesterday, and there's this part of me that wants to change one thing at a time--better to start the Novolog on the 508 than start both the Novolog and Cozmore at the same time--if something goes wrong, I don't know which new thing caused it.
So that's my story, and I'm sticking to it. You should see my forearms, they look like I got attacked by an alley cat--**** oak tree. :whistling I should be running on the Cozmore maybe by Wednesday.
