Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and would be considered pre-diabetic. I was diagnosed years ago with PCOS and was lucky enough to be insulin resistant  I've been taking metformin for years and recently my doctor increased my dosage to 3 X 850mg tablets. I'm just wondering if anyone here is taking Avandia? Metformin is not my favorite drug and doesn't really seem to be doing much good, anyone else with this experience?

Welcome MapleDip.....
Glad you made it here. Wish I could offer more help here, but I opted to go w/ the insulin regimen, it works a lil better for me. (lol, not by choice..T1)
Welcome Mapledip, I was on metformin for a long time and I was never feeling well. My husband was put on metformin when he was dx and that was when we discovered what was wrong with me. I am now on avandia and feeling much better. Althought the avandia has helped to stabilize the bs level it is still too high so am going on insulin as well. Hope this helps some. PM me if you would like to.

Hello and Welcome to the family. I'm sure that you will find lots of helpful info and new friends to support you. I'm not sure but I think my asst. manager at work is taking Avandia. I will ask her about it and post what I learn for you. Again, Welcome. :D

It took my body six months to get used to Metformin but now I feel absolutely great with the only side effect being gas (farts). During the period when I was actually getting used to it, I felt awful - which was why I looked for a support forum and fortunately found this fantastic place.
