Hi all!

My name is 'Cookie' and I'm from just outside Edinburgh - in Scotland!

Only registered this evening and have had a quick look around, seems like loads of people have some fantastic advice!

Only problem is that no-one here seems to measure in mmols!! I'm going to get very confused!! These large numbers mean nothing to me!!

Hiya Cookie :)

I measure in mmols  So do most of the Uk folk.
There's a couple of people from Edinburgh, buzzborne (sarah) is one of them, but she's off travelling europe for a few months. She posts quite alot when she's here though. A few others from scotland, Lorna I think.. can't remember anymore. Lots of people from england though :)

http://www.childrenwithdiabetes.com/bs_conv.htm That's a convertor I use to figure out what the HUGE numbers mean :whistling

Hi Cookie ! Welcome to the forum.

There are a few of us that talk mmols . If you divide the "large numbers" by 18 you will get an approximate conversion.

Hi Cookie http://bestsmileys.com/waving/5.gif

I'm in England, and I keep a calculator permanently by my computer.

Are you T1 or T2? How long have you been diabetic? I'm coming up to my first anniversary of T2 tomorrow. Not sure if I should have a party with loads of cakes, or just ignore it LOL :p

Welcome Cookie (like the name, btw, is that favorite food? )

I don't mmols so I guess I'm the odd ball in this thread :oneeye:...but I guess I could x your numbers by 18 instead.

Anyway, glad you found us...hope you will stick around and get to know us a little better :)

Welcome from the Maritimes, Canada. Once you've read the large numbers for awhile you'll be able to convert them in your head. When I first saw them, I wondered how they were alive with numbers so high. I was quite relieved to learn about the conversion. You'll learn lots of other neat things here too. Hope to hear lots from ya!

Yes, I'm in mmole/l as well, you are part of the "hidden" community

Liz, my wife and I spent many, many holidays in the Maritimes - lovely place - and I used to regularly take part in the Dartmouth Old Time Fiddle Contest - never made the final though.
