Do you keep your pumps on when riding roller coasters?

Thomas wanted to go to Busch Gardens with his grandma, but didn't know if he could go on all the roller coasters with his pump.

I went to Hershey Park and Disney World with my pump and rode rollercoasters and had no problems. The only thing that got me nervous was the water rides...b/c as we know, MM pumps are not water proof :( . So Thomas should be able to ride and enjoy those 'coasters! :)

I've tried all rides with my MiniMed Paradigm 511, including Free Fall (being dragged up 80 meters (=263 feet) and then released freely down to the ground :P) and the Catapult, (same thing but it's 60 meters (=197 feet) and you are being sent up to teh top in 2 seconds, then taken down, then up, then down, then up... well you get the idea) and my pump didnt break. I had it in the belt clip and I've been with it to the amusement parks many times :)

I read an article on this once, on childrenwithdiabetes.com, and the doctor said that the pump can be taken on rollarcosters.

In a word--YES. Why NOT?

Thank you all for your replies.

Thomas will be very happy to hear this. He can't wait to ride the new roller coaster at Busch Gardens- Shekra (sp?).

I do roller coasters and water rides with mine (depending on the water ride is where I Place it.....you are not submerging it in water so I should be OK

Thomas was thrilled to know he doesn't have to worry about his pump on rides.
We went to Adventure Island (water park) today. I told him to test his pump to see if it was waterproof. He didn't want to go that far yet. ;)

My pump has been on every roller coaster I have been on. It is my understanding that a pump can take more g's (g force) than the human body so it can handle more than a person... That's nice to know :) Heck, it better for $6,000!!

I thought I read something somewhere that said the force on the pump was not good.???? Hummmm...

Well if riding a roller coaster is bad for it, then so is jogging, running, tennis, basketball, football, soccer, baseball, swimming, olympic high-jumping, curling, ice fishing, rock climbing, and frozen turkey bowling!!! :D

Thank you all for your reponses and encouragement.

He will probably have to wait for Oct/Nov to take his pump on a field trip to Busch Gardens now, way too hot for me and his dad to take him! Unless he can talk his grandma into taking a day off of work :D - she doesn't mind the steamy hot long lines (and she has an annual pass).
