At the moment, I only use one glucometer - although have left it at work over the weekend so am having to use a spare.

Made me think though, do any of you keep a meter at work and one at home?

I generally always use the meter I keep in my handbag (except when I've left it at work :whistling ) but don't normally take it upstairs with me when I go up to bed, so if I was low in the middle of the night I'd need to come down and test!

What do you do?

(I suppose one solution is to have meters for as many places as possible but then the meter's average reading is never going to be much use to anyone is it?)

1 for work
1 for my home office
1 for my bedroom
1 spare in the rec room
1 I carry with me back and forth from work
1 extra
Plus, the Cozmore...for a grand total of 7. When I say I am a testing freak, I am a testing freak.

1 in my purse
1 next to my computer
1 in my living room

And I have two spare meters as well. All of them except one are One Touch Ultra Smart and I download all of them into software on my computer.

Thomas has one (flash) that he carries EVERYWHERE he goes.
One in the car, just in case he forgets the one he usually uses.
And a back up in his supply cabinet.
He will probably keep one in his locker when school starts back up.

Hi TVBabe,

Does this mean that all the data from all your meters shows up altogether when you download into your computer? Does it put all the data together for you from all the different meters?

Yes as long as I use the same brand of meter it incorporates all the data into one file :)

Hi, I use 1 Fast Take/Ultra at home(main one), 1 Fast Take/Ultra in my
purse for traveling all over and the Mini/Flash is left at my Mom's to test every second month that we visit her.

I only have 2 bgm's. One is an Accu-chek Compact, which is the one i use nowadays. And the other one is a medisense precision xtra that is my spare meter and i might use it for ketone testing if needed. Thinking about buying another meter soon, but don't know what it will be. Maybe the accu-chek aviva or something :p

I got one in my pocket, It goes, where I goes. Like American Express I don't leave home without it.

I use the Accu-Chek Compact (NOT!) exclusively, as that is what the insurance company will cover. The Accu-Chek compact is not compact at all, but I like the drum feed, especially if I am shaking.

I have one upstairs next to my bed for "emergency" night testing or use whn I'm up there, and one downstairs in my office that I use down there. I also used to carry it with me in a "Butt Bump" carrier, along with a Glucerna bar, two peppermint candies, and BD glucose tabs. My lancet and supplies, and spare drums too.

However, I was at Wal Mart the other day and they have lowered the price of the Accu-Chek Compact to $28. Not at close out either. So I bought another to carry exclusively in the butt bump and to leave the other two in place in the house. The one I carried was almost always open once of twice per week and was annoying that it screwed up the drum!

Not bad.... $25 rebate, along with a $45 trade in for my ancient decrepit Dex!

They all three download into the computer program and tally to my patient file when they are initialized for me.

I have several meters...the BD Meter that came with the pump, an old Generic pharmacy brand meter, the One Touch Ultra (my main meter), and now a Freestyle Flash (since my insurance changed). However, when I'm using a particular meter, that's the only one I use. I can't afford to fill multiple 'scripts for test strips.

Eri is now just using the two compacts...one in her bag that goes everywhere w/ her, the other that we keep around as a quick grab...
She has the advantage by accu-chek as well, but, since we don't have insurance now, we aren't buying those strips. She also has the BD logic that goes w/ her pump, but she won't start using that until she starts the pump next month.

OMG....DUCK....I am just as bad!!!! LOL....I have a compact in the car that I HATE....when the strips are gone (they were free) the meter is up for grabs. Send me your info if you want it...
