Hi all :)
Ok...I've posted about Eri and her high readings...well, now, lately, she's been going low...I LOVE this seesaw!!!(NOT!!!)
At the pizzeria the other day, we ran out, and she was there w/ the crew, and they noticed her going white and weirdish, and they asked her to test, and she was 65(low, considering how high she USUALLY has been)...she came up.
Now, she's been getting to the 40's more and more frequently. Although today, HUGE suprise(even though she was "perfect" for her...yesterday a.m....at 128, this morning she was at 61. She ate a great breakfast, then off to her 6th grade graduation. It was hot(ok, so we're spoiled b/c FL schools all have a/c)...anyhow...when she got up on stage I could see she was pale white and sweaty...and walking weird. We left, she grabbed a snack from the pile she had left at school. I made her test after eating a rice crispy treat(mini) and a juice)...and she was 43...UGH....she's dropping fast all the sudden now.
Ah, the JOYS of puberty.
OK, I'll shut up!!!
Thanks for listening!!!

Oh Eri......
Yes the JOYS of PUBERTY!!!
I'm sorry she's on such a rollercoaster, but its perfectly normal. I'm 30 and still on that puberty see saw!! (JK)
Deep breathe,,,, I know you probably have not too many left, but try. My only suggestion would be to call her doc and bring up eating a lil more, taking a lil less insulin, and of course test, test, and test a lil more. She should be very excited about summertime. Please keep us posted on Eri (Big hug for Eri)

You mentioned the heat - I live in Houston, Texas where 97 deg in June is normal with a heat index of 105
The heat LOWERS my bg and I use less insulin in the summer.
Eri may be reacting to the heat as well as puberty.

TY...yep...these deep breaths...I'm about ready to hyperventilate between Eri and her brother(thank GOD Elle is somewhat normal!!!LOL)...
argh...Eri has got to call in her numbers...and she's at the pizzeria w/o her log book....BRAT!!! Now I have to run that up(have to be at work in 50 minutes anyway...lol)...
I'm thinking the heat, as well as the lovely maturing puberty, and all the exercising she is doing is working into this. I totally forgot how much she is swimming lately...and she had me powerwalking through the Galleria mall yesterday(a LOT bigger than the SRQ mall!!!)...for her graduation outfit. My Lord, that girl can shop!!!(and she spent her OWN money...she said she would prefer I buy b/c it doesn't seem so bad when it's ME spending money on her...lol...)
We see the nutritionist next week...Tuesday...or Monday...wait, Tuesday(brain freeze)...so we'll see what we do then as well...the pump is right around the corner!!!

I know how these changes go...just when you think you have your routine down or at least can see a pattern, everything changes. That can be very frustrating, believe me I know ;) . Personally, I would take a low anyday over a high (hate those buggers ). Hey, at least it give you an excuse to eat :D...but she does have to be careful. If she seems to hit a low at the same time of day, then it probably does mean that something does need to be adjusted. Do you think these lows could be due to her eating less? I know in the heat and humidity, I don't have as much of an appetite as I usually do. Something to consider anyway. I guess the best thing to do would be to test and log those numbers, something I always neglect to do, and then try to figure out what exactly is going on from there.
Hopefully, when Eri moves to the pump she will have a lot less of these bouncing blood sugar readings and things will smooth out for her. When does she start? I'm sure she can't wait ;)

actually, i'm kindof happy.....okay that doesn't sound to good, let me elaborate....
Carlye is going through puberty too or at least teatering on the edge of it, since you are a pro at this diabetes stuff, you can offer all kinds of advice there, and we can both muddle our sorry mom butts through the terrible stages of puberty/adolescence together... woo hoo, a party!!

TY :)
LOL...this teetering puberty...regular full blown puberty..lol...is for the birds(figures, my parents would name me after a bird!!!)...
Yes, it has to be the heat...PLUS, she has decided to "work" at the pizzeria and learn how to make the food. She's actually really good, her food turns out great and she's a fast and hard worker!!! (ok, and the kitchen was at over 100 degrees yesterday!!!)...
Ah, the joys of see sawing...at least it makes life interesting...b/c, well, I guess as Forrest Gump said, "Life is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get..."...it sums it up the best!!!
I would rather the lows, too. From what Eri has told me, the highs are a real nuisance, the lows she said her legs feel all wobbly and shakey on the inside, and she can get VICIOUS(with both highs and lows though)...
OK, I'm rambling...
Pump, right around the corner, right around the corner!!! :) Tuesday is ACC class...a step in the RIGHT direction!!!(I hope and pray!!!)

Hi Robin,
Sorry to hear that Eri's been going so low. :( Neither side of our "rainbow of blood sugars" (lol) is "fun," that's for sure.... I hope you and she hang in there, and that she starts pumping soon. Take care, hang in and keep cool!

Thanks Dewey :)
She just LOVES to throw in that element of surprise...the kid keeps me on my toes, along w/ my other two!!!
I honestly believe it IS the puberty issue....
I'm hanging in there...we went to Six Flags today and her sugar stayed between the 70's and 161(the heat and a LOT of walking)....then we get home and she is 221...UGH...drives me NUTS!!!LOL(and she didn't eat anything she shouldn't have, and she drank only water...annoying, but we'll work it out :) )
Alrighty, I'll shut up :)

Awww, thanks Cinnabon :)
I bet my kids would say otherwise!!!LOL(like I am mean, unfair, etc, etc...)lol...
Eri should be PERFECT when she gets inside, she's out there now swimming w/ her brother, sister and dad...the dogs missed us like crazy yesterday and I'm inside getting ready to prepare tonights supper.
(then I have to drag in the good ol' hub and redo the menu for the pizzeria...keeping everything but just adding on a few more things, and some more "diabetes" friendly as well :)
(this is our 2 day weekend off...so we're really taking advantage of it, although my youngest had to be at TKD camp by 8:45...ewwwww....and next week is the start of summer school for my son....he STARTS at 7:45 and there is NO bus service, so I'll have to drive him and pick him up...brat...lol.)
Oh yeah, tomorrow is my and Eri's appt. w/ the nutritionist for the advanced carb counting course...getting closer and closer to this pump...yea!!! :)
