Do you all think the minimed is the best pump? That is the one I have the most info on. Is there one any of you would recommend that I look into?

I have minimed508. I think veryone here has a minimed.
I like my pump. I have checked in to others.

Exchange coupon must be postmarked by February 28, 2002 to qualify
Program begins March 1, 2001 - 508 purchases before this date not eligible
Exchanges available after June 2002
Offer good only for pumps purchased in the United States
Does not apply to Medtronic MiniMed distributors, or Medicare beneficiaries
To receive the Paradigm pump, the Medtronic MiniMed 508 pump must be returned at time of exchange
User must attend a training class to receive the Paradigm exchange

*Program available in the United States only (with proof of domestic purchase)

That's minimeds exchange offer. If you decide to go on the pump you may want to wait until june when there new pump comes out. I'm not sure if you would have enough time to get the coupon in before feb. 28. Which means you would have to have
the 508.

I think any pump is great, but each brand has its own quirks and some people will like ones features over anothers. I tried both Minimed and Disetronic pumps and chose Minimed for one simple reason: the display shows what the pumps doing with words, not icons . At 42, I wanted the learning process to be as easy as possible. I thought the Disetronic was better in some ways, like I think its built sturdier, but now Im not as likely to abuse it as I was when I was 12. Get all the info you can about each pump and try out more than one if you can.

Hi Gina,
I know you have to turn in the 508 if you got in on that deal with the free upgrade but my insurance paid for this 507 and will be paying for the paradigm also (well, all but 20%) so I sure hope they dont want my old pump. I have heard of deals where they dont make you pay your copay if you turn your old one in but I like the idea of a backup.
Im going to call today and Ill let you know what they say about when/if the paradigm is/will be out.

Hello Everyone!

I am new and I am WHO! :)

I have a Disetronic H-Tron plus pump (gasp not a mini med!) and I've had it for a little over a year now! I love this pump!! I have a MM507, but I like my D better and am loaning the MM to a friend.

I think that the pump you like best really all depends on you. I know people with MM's who hate D's and the same for D users. Now as to me, as long as it is a pump, and not shots, I am happy!

Just thought I would share my thoughts on this.

Hi all~

I've had a MM507 for nearly 5 years. It has changed my life significnaly. Before the pump I was having multiple insulin reactions every day then bouncing into the 300s to 500s. I've not communicated with any other pumpers, and am excited to get this opportunity to share ideas. Am I understanding correctly that I can exchange my pump for a newer model with minmed? Or do I have to go through my HMO which made it difficult to get the pump in the first place? I am very interested in trying the newest model minimed has to offer (Paradigm?).

Thanks for any info.

Hi Tracie,
I think the best thing to do is call them and talk to them about the Paradigm. All I know is I can't upgrade until my warranty runs out to get the Paradigm. I have only been on the 508 1 1/2 years but like this one.
I am anxious to see how everyone likes the Paradigm compared to the one they are on now, and to see the differences with using the new one .

from what i understand with the exchange program, you have to attend a class and at that time you exchange your pump. i am going to do that. i just got the 508 in january. this is my 3rd pump. i have been with minimed for 8 years.

Gina, Do you ever have problems with your skin, especially in the stomach area where you do the inserts? Mine itches alot.
I use the siloettes, because quick set did not work for me. I have the 507c and have had no problems. I do want to move up at the end of the 4years. That's when Medicare will pay for another pump. There are certain ones that they will cover.
Happy pumping
