Hi again :)

Well, Eri had her first class today...it went ok. They now have her on the 1:16 carb ratio. She's got the math down good...she had to first go and count carbs w/o the book or anything...she did pretty good...was off on a few, but she forgot to put 1/2 in front of the sandwich she gets down at lunch(b/c the nutritionist said she was off in her carb count for a sandwich, Eri then said...oh yeah, I forgot the half...but it was right due to that...confusing you yet?)
We go through 4 weeks of this.
They said they were a bit upset b/c Eri hasn't called in her numbers every week...but she DOES call...and leaves messages since the line is constantly busy...but they don't get the messages, SO, I asked for both the fax number and email addy...I'll send them in every week now that way...much easier.
Anyhooties, they are saying sometime in August for the pump...not too bad, we've waited this long, I can wait an extra few weeks.
It's kind of funny...Eri's toughest subject is math, and she has to have it down to get her counts right...lol...so maybe this will strengthen her enough to get that grade to an "A"...and she can become a straight A student like her sister.(If only her brother put forth a smidgen of effort...lol)...
OK, so it went good...nice and quick, easy to follow, have her charts to send in after 3 days of eating all meals, so that'll be easy.
Now, to get these numbers perfect....
OH....her lab results for just her HbA1c came in...she went from an 11.2 to a 9.6...still high, but at least it went DOWN!!! Now, just to get to 7 and they'll be happy(heck, they'll be happy to see 8!!!....I'd be estatic, although she has had an A1c of 6.7 or 6.2 at one point about 4.5, 5 yrs ago!!!...love finding that old paperwork!!!)

Shutting up!!!

Robin,

All in all...it sounds pretty positive :five: That's so great...I'm sure in no time Eri will be a carb counting PRO :top:. Keep us updated! :)

It saddens me to think she is such a young girl that is supposed to be enjoying the summer off but she has the added responsibility of trying to get her disease in control. Not to mention the boring classes she might be attending. Today for me is one of those depressing days. I feel like throwing my pump at the wall cause I am just so tired. Then I think about all the younger people who deal with it better then me at times and ask how in the heck do they do it?

Thanks all... :)

I can just see that coyishly shy little smile/smirk on her face when she will read this tomorrow :) The little brat did NOT want to turn off "The Pacifier" so we could leave, and as I was rushing in the house, I fell going UP the stairs...popped my pinky back in place...lol...oh am I a CLUTZ!!!

I AM proud of her for counting so well, and at least she is fast with a calculator!!!LOL

Eh...her summer is still going to be fun :) Her brother ruined it for them going to FL until late August b/c he gets to go to summer school!!!(that boy!!!)...PLUS, this responsibility is GREAT for her!!!

Believe me, there are days where she just wants to throw it all away, but I make her face it head on. I don't want to sound harsh, but I need her to understand that SHE is the one who has got to be in control of her body, not to let her body control her, know what I mean?

It sounds like Eri's getting there. It's important that she remember not to get discouraged, even if the science isn't always exact. It sounds like she's doing quite well, so it probably goes without saying. Here's hoping August (and pumping for Eri) comes soon! :vroam:
