Paramedics generally ignore watches and anything that looks like jewelry, unless it's in their way. The uglier the better when it comes to condition bracelets and neckware.

I've had two seperate paramedics tell me they don't bother to check for medic alerts anyway--I may just know two of the most ignorant paramedics ever, but still that shocked me (and is why I don't wear any ID on me).
I told my wife I was going to get a Medic-Alert tattooed on my arm that stated I was a Type-1 diabetic. She said something to the effect of "Oh, what a great idea--with your luck they'll cure it the next day and you'll have wasted your money..."
At which point I looked at her and told her I would get that tatooed on my forehead if that was all I had to do to cure this disease.

I was a paramedic in New York for 7 year, as a member of a small town fire dept. thats the first thing your taught, check the wrists for a medic alert, and if nothing check around the neck. Now I know people who did not, and when the patient was finally brought to the hospital, if there was a standardized medic alert, but it was not listed on the pre-hospital care report (the legal paperwork a medic has to sign) then you can be brought up on charges, and possibly loose your licence. now does that mean that medic look every time, no it means that basically if you find someone how is passed out, then you look, if the person is awake, and can be communicated with, then they just tell you. but back then I would not look for a watch, or at something that looked like jewelry. and I know when I was last brought to the hospital, someone noticed my medic alert on my wrist...
as a personal note, when I used to take care of people, the first place I would look is the right wrist, as the left is usually where watches are. the order wast r-wrist, l-wrist then neck. and yes duck the uglier, and more attention drawing the best....
sorry a bout the long post, just something I have experience with on both sides....

As a medic now, Ill second what middnite says....I look quickly at both arms and the neck but can honestly say that I have never paid any attention what so ever to a watchface.....

I have bought the FRIO cool pouch for the pump. Miami gets real annoying with the high temperatures.
