I've been diagnosed with T2 for 5 years. I've had luck until now using Metformin 1000mgx2 daily. The past year the blood glucose levels have been creeping up on me.

Fasting blood glucose now runs from 135 to 160 in the morning, then drops in the afternoon!? I run 4 miles/day, weights,...etc. My body weight is in control. I eat a low to moderate carb intake. Is loss of control inevitable with age? I'm 46. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do to recover control?

Type 2 has always been considered as a progressive desease. With time insulin resistance increases which is normal even for people without diabetes, but it usually shows up 70+ years. An A1c of 6-7 at age 75 is pretty common. At 46 it's not so common. All of the spikes in glucose you have contribute to an increase in resistance. Also it's normal for your body to become accustomed to drugs and for them to loose their effectiveness. Just had my meds dosage doubled last May after four years on them and my fasting levels were much lower than yours. Looks like it's time to add another med or switch to a different type. Call your doctor you might be eligible to try out the new drug Byetta. :ciao:
