Hi, My first post here and I have a question. I'm a t1 (diagnosed in March) and in the summer I get bad hayfever which makes me sneeze and makes my eyes water horribly!

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of medicines they have taken and what effect they had on their bs levels. I've read on the internet that some products should be used with caution because they contain dextrose, but surely in the amounts i would be using the effects would be negligable?

Anyway, what do you fellow diabetic hayfever sufferers use?

Hi, My first post hereWelcome to the Forums! :wavey:

The Active ingrediant Diphenhydramine hydrochloride 25mg. Dextrose is missing from the inactive ingredients, but I see hypromellose and cellulose. Believe all of the sugars chemical names end in 'ose' and there are a bunch of them, but there are only about five that we can break down and digest like fructose, dextrose, lactose, and sucrose are four I remember off the top of my head. Did someone mention memory loss. :vroam: Of the two listed I only reconize cellose and that one we cannot breakdown, and I suspect the same is true for hypromellose. My guess is your right, the amount of filler in a pill will not make much difference. What sides the active ingrediant gives you no one can tell and some of them may affect your bg's. You will just have to try them and test to see what happens. You may see nothing after taking them, but see a big rise in your post meal or a liver that runs away dumping glucose. Oh, BTW the active ingrediant, an antihistamine, comes from a generic brand knockoff of Benadryl.
