I was told 7 once, in a doctor's office, a long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away). I was really sick at the time. I don't know if I was sick because my blood sugar was so low or if my blood sugar was low because I was so sick. It may have been an error though because this was in the late 60's or early 70's.

Our local hospital told us that if you get a reading under 30, and you still feel capable of reading the meter, then you didn't get a big enough blood sample, and the reading is wrong.
I use an Ascensia Breeze (by Bayer) which gives me an E8 message if there isn't enough blood.
Oh, and your answer . . . mine is never terribly low. Only ever goes high. Lowest of all time was 70. Highest of all time was 297. I'm beginning to think, from reading things here, that I may be really lucky.

Why do DR's think it is impossible to be alert if your BS is lower than 30? :dontknow:

But seriously . . . I have never been down under 70. Is it possible to be alert below 30 and at the same time for it to be a true reading?

My DR seems to think that if you have a sugar that low your either dead or your meter is wrong. I told him of the 22 I had before in which I requested a Glucagon kit. He laughed and said you must need a new meter. I complained to him later that week of me suffering with a 24 sugar and a 29. At that time he changed my basals. I hate it when they think they are always right but yet don't even have the disease.

Thomas' lowest was 30/29 and he was alert. He said "I think I feel low". He checked and it was 30  I told him he did something wrong to test again. I could not believe he was that low and no symptoms except feeling "a little low". He checked again and yep- 29. :hmmmm: He was using a OneTouch at the time and you know that if you don't have enough blood you have a wasted strip!

My lowest was 16, I was suprised and checked again.
I had no symptoms, I was fine which almost scared me.
I have had to low to register and low 20's. also with no symptoms.
What symptoms did you have?

Wow! You may have just received the board's biggest swinger award!!!
Any symptoms at either extreme?
I have to imagine you were shaky or disoriented at one of those times.

Lowest: 1.2/21.59 mmol
Its funny because i was on the phone at the time and couldnt feel a thing because it had dropped very fast due to not enough dinner. Scary though because i feel disgusting between the 40-60 range as if im going to fall over and die but yet at such a critical point of a low i feel just fine. **** lows!

The lowest I've ever been is 38. The highest (recorded) was 700, although I suspect I've been higher than that (based on an A1c of 15.9).

Lowest ever was 25, and I was babbling nonsense & having seizures. Had the same thing happen in the 30's a few times - I've also been "fine" (able to help myself) in the 30's.
Diagnostic b/s was in the upper 400's, which is my highest reading that I'm aware of.

Lowest ever........17 but I was unconscious, so I have only the paramedics reading to rely on.
I have been in the low 30's and been very coherent. :dontknow:

Not trying to be nosy but......was the 15.9 right at diagnosis or recent? (hopefully not recent).

Its scary to read how many people were disorientated and having seizures while others (like me) were happy and fine only feeling a little low.

Our local hospital told us that if you get a reading under 30, and you still feel capable of reading the meter, then you didn't get a big enough blood sample, and the reading is wrong.
Well, when I had the reading of 7, a nurse took the blood from my arm with one of those big syringes they used in the past. There was plenty of blood for that reading.

Hmm . . . not sure to thank you for the input or the imagery! Seriously, though, it sounds like people can function below 30 mg/dl.

... years ago was put on Diamicron and would faint a lot. Didn't have a meter so can't say how low I was.
Lowest I've been and able to measure it on my meter was 4.8 mmol/L (87 mg/dl) so nothing as low as you guys have experienced in the past. I was light headed, couldn't concentrate, felt silly, found everything funny, and was quite shaky. Even found being shaky funny! Hate lows...
Highest? 22 mmol/L (395 mg/dl) and because of steroids I was taking for a severe allergic reaction. Was ever so siiiiiick!
Best levels for me are between 6 and 7 :)

Lowest I have done on my meter was 22 last night. My husband woke me up to ask a question and realized I didn't feel well, by the time I got downstairs to get something to eat and drink I was feeling it. I did retest and came out the same.
Now not sure about this one because I was in an ambulance and starting to come to. I still could not see, I believe my eyes were open, but heard the paramedic stating I was at 5. I remember thinking that isn't possible and still be alive, so I thought I was dead till I heard my mothers voice (though still thinking maybe I was hearing her in the after life). It may or may not have happened, I never did get to ask the paramedic or the hospital if that was true.
Highest would have to be in the 380s that I know of. I don't think I have ever tested myself and been in the 400s.

I've been down to 35 a couple of times recently (that's really a silly thing to say; I've only been dxd for 1 month!) and felt a little "off", with my hands shaking and feeling a bit weak, but still fully functional otherwise. My highest reading was my initial reading at my endo's office: 381. It's funny; unless my sugar drops below 80, I really have no idea what it is until I test.
