I thought I saw a thread on this before but can't seem to find it.
Thomas' pump has been alarming "pump not primed" a lot lately, a couple times a week. When it started a couple of months ago we figured it needed a new battery (even though the battery indicator showed full) so we changed it. We get our batteries from Animas so we know they are the right ones. A couple of weeks ago it alarmed again so again we changed the batteries, a week later it was alarming again, changed the battery since he was going to camp anyway. While he was at camp it alarmed almost everyday. We have been home from camp a little more than a week and it has alarmed probably 2-3x since.
Has anyone else had this happen?
I do plan on calling Animas.

Ok. I just got off the phone with Animas. The first thing they asked was to read off the alarm history, something I/we usually don't look at. To my suprise, no history of "pump not primed!
I couldn't believe it. He has had so many. She said if there is an occlusion thats when you might get that alarm. Well his last occlusion was Dec. Thats when Tom made it alarm occlusion because the pump wasn't alarming at all, and with the IR1000 he had a lot of alarms (especially occlusions).
Needless to say he will have a new pumped tomorrow.

I don't know too much about Animas but I am happy to see that they are replacing it. It's always nice to recieve a new pump scratch free. :)

I just received my new pump due to the CarbWizard recall last week. Not one question raised, except:
What color pump do you want,
Do you have the same mailing address.
I'm on the 1250 and have not had one problem with it. I consider it a major improvement from the MM508 I was on, and the customer service from Animas is like the way it used to be with Minimed BEFORE Medtronic merged or bought it or whatever.
Nan, you might also want to check what the occlusion sensitivity is set to. I set mine to low.
Nancy,
Chase went through the same "pump not primed" fiasco about a month ago. His original 1250 was fine, but after getting the "upgraded" 1250 we started seeing "pump not primed" warnings on a regular basis. FWIW, the replacement pump was also VERY loud when bolusing, rewinding, etc. I had a feeling something wasn't quite right from the beginning, but I digress...
Went through the same steps as you with Animas, and when nothing worked they overnighted a new pump. The new pump is MUCH quieter and no problems at all. (knocks on wood)
Hopefully the replacement will solve Thomas' issues as well.
Oh...here's the other thread in case anyone is interested: IR1250 Not Primed - Confirm! (http://www.diabetesforums.com/showthread.php?t=5209&highlight=primed)

I cut and pasted this from the 10/10 "Help" tread:
We received a phone call from Animas tonight.
The are sending us a 2nd pump too keep for 3 months as a back up. The rep said she will call us in 3 months to see how things are going and reassess from there.
She sais this is a new program they just started.
She also said that they found out why the pumps are alarming "pump not primed". I can't remember exactly, but I think she said it had to do with the force pressure? (force something).
So hopefully this new one will be perfect!
We received the back up pump on Thursday. Just in time for our camping trip!

Supposedly when Animas sends out a "new" pump, it's not really new. It's just a pump that someone returned and Animas repaired. So, when Adam's waterproof pump was destroyed while we were on vacation and he was sent a "new" one to replace it...it wasn't really new. It was used and improved.

the CarbWizard recall last week.
What is the new "upgraded" IR1250? Is there any info. on the recall? I didn't see any on the animas website, though I did see that they will give you a free iPod nano now. Too bad I was a month too early to qualify :dong:.
