Ok well I have this question but don't know if it has anything to do with being diabetic., but here goes.

Almost every year for the past few years once a year b/t march-june, I get these so called dizzy spells. That makes it so when i lay down the room acts like it is spinning. I've gone to the dr prior when I had this problem and they just say I have water in my ears and give me some type of like allergy meds and something else . It seems to work though.

It happend back when the weather changed to warm and I didn't see a dr that time so the dizzyness lasted like 3weeks or so.

Last two nights it has been happening again. My mom has the same problem every so often but more so for her. Shes diabetic too.

You get dizzy spells between March and June . . . I doubt it's tied to diabetes.

Generally, dizzy spells tie to something to do with the inner ear. I'm surprised July-September isn't in your list, but I'm wondering if perhaps you are perspiring inside the ear or getting "swimmer's ear" that is causing the problem. The other possibility that comes to mind is allergens, given how bad the pollens have been in Virginia these past few years. (Pollen levels increase exponentially with increases in carbon dioxide, so all those cars on the roads are adding to the pollen count, believe it or not.)

You probably need to talk with your doctor, but I'd be willing to bet it's one of the above. Treatments would most likely be:

Allergies: Loratadine (Claritin)
Swimmer's Ear: any antifungal, such as acetasol, diluted hydrogen peroxide, or possibly even just some wax removal with carbomeric peroxide.
Inner Ear Infection: Antibiotic

I really doubt it has to do with your diabetes if you're not seeing your levels drop.

Hi,

I found some info. on Vertigo, and thought it may be helpful....

Vertigo symptoms (http://ks.essortment.com/symptomsofve_rcix.htm)

I agree that your dizziness doesn't sound Diabetes-related...Hope this helps.

I am guessing allergies too. If they gave you a decongestant before then that is probably it. I would ask for a prescription to keep at home so when it begins you start taking it or begin taking it in March and stop in June...I take allegra during the fall when school starts up for some same symptoms...I think it is the mold in school.
