I haven't had diabetes very long maybe a year, just recentlly started insulin. My sugar levels are sometimes in the hight 200's even been 300, is this dangerous if they usually drop back down very quickly. Thanks for any help you can give.

I recently had a night where my sugars dropped about 200 points in an hour. My wife (a former dialysis nurse) was stunned that I wasn't shaking involuntarily. Given her past experience, I guess there are some effects possible, but I didn't have them.
In general, you don't want high blood sugars, no matter how long. IN the same thinking, if you are high, it is better to be high for a short amount of time than a long amount of time. Do what you need to do to get control.

Backtracking sometimes helps a lot. Did you do anyhting different on that day you had that big drop? More exercise? a high fat food you ate?
Do you have this big drops regularly?
Oh, I just re-read what you asked...Is it dangerous? For some, yes. You can trigger what is called the Smyogi Effect, where your levels bounce up and down, which is not good for the system, bad for mood swings and hard on family and friends and yourself. I'm all for getting highs down ASAP, but you do need to monitor yourself when correcting a high aggressively, and watch for rebounds, etc.
