Well I didn't take anyone's advice here and I kept walking outside barefoot. About 2 1/2 weeks ago my happy a** fell on a slippery dock and put a nice size gash into my heal. Since then it has not healed and it hurts like heck. I finally went to the DR and it is infected. This is the worse cut I suffered from. Usually mine heal pretty good but this one is so bad I can barely walk without limping. I know, I know shame on me. You won't catch Sandi without shoes ever again. :stickyman Figures just when I am getting over my broken hand this goes and happens.

I hate this has happen to you but I'm sure it's happened to many of us in the past, especially me. I would encourage you to get the Bactroban Ointment made by SmithKline Beecham. It's expensive but I've found cuts heal much faster when I use it than when I don't. I could be wrong but I sincerely believe it has kept me from losing fingers and toes.

I also make sure to keep the wound clean. I'll soak them a while in the epsom salts (hope I spelled that right but probably didn't), and pour a little hydrogen peroxide on the cut several times a day.

That is one of the scripts I have from the Doc. My daughter had some so I am using hers. It makes no sense to go and pay a $15 copay when I have some already including samples. I also have an oral antibiotic. My mom took some numbing cream from her hospital and believe it or not it lessoned the pain.

 Sandi! Sorry to hear about your mishap. A screen door closed on my foot one day as I was going to swim (caused a good-sized gash)...of course, it happened when I was younger, so my mom doctored it up, put a sock on it, and I went swimming anyway...lol :D Here's hoping you heal quickly, and hang in there! :five:
