Hi list,

I'm still confused by my b/g readings and what my body is really doing!
still taking meds as originally prescribed (glucophage morning and night and avandia before lunchtime...as well as Atacand plus for b/p at night)...

yesterday i 'deviated' from my normal very sensible eating routine...i had left-over spaghetti for breakfast (honestly, it's my favorite breakfast food, next to left over take-out pizza which i haven't had in years because there's no pizza joints for 300 miles!!),
lunch was my big protein meal of the day (lamb chops, a big carrot and red cabbage salad with only lemon and a small bit of spiced rice)...mid-afternoon snack of watermelon (about a cup full of melon 'cubes') and a dinner of veggies and a small amount of rice and some tuna in water...BUT then last night before bed, i actually had a glass of non-fat milk and a piece of birthday cake!! not a huge piece, but it WAS cake...and, as if that wasn't enough... i also had a piece of pita bread (first bread of the day) with about tablespoons of my homemade tomato sauce to 'test' it to see how good it was. it was...!

this morning, my b/g level was LOWER than yesterday's!! it was 115 (friday's was 129)
i'll monitor again 2 hours after lunch and let you know. yesterday, my lunch +2 hour level was exactly the same as my fasting morning level.

does this mean that the medication is working? does it mean that my body/pancreas is coming back to life and doing what it's supposed to do?

boy, the more i learn, the more i don't know!! :hmmmm:
and i don't think i'm alone either...

all in all, i'm pleased at how much lower my b/g levels are now, just over a month since being seen by a 'real' internist...

i guess it's all 'live and learn'...emphasis on the LIVE!!

so last night, before going to bed, i did a reading...
it was 110 at 10 pm..

this morning the fasting rate was 120..

i'm still puzzled...but i am not too worried.
something's up with my body but it doesn't look too terrifying at the
moment.

if i make it to 75, i'll be happy
that's 75 years...depending on my physical condition...mobility and the mind.
most important assets.

One explanation of the difference between the readings is experimental error i.e. the normal variation between test readings from the same sample. These readings are showing a variation of +9.17%. A variation between readings of plus or minus 10% is quite feasible.

Another explanation is that you are seeing the effect of your liver pumping glucose.

One thing I would say is that at the levels you are at there doesn't seem to be anything hugely worrying as long as you stay reasonably stable at these levels.

Another explanation, which isn't really an explanation, is that your observations are just one of those peculiar things which are normal for diabetics and have no known cause :banghead:
