I am considering using Symilin and was wondering if I get some information of someone who is taking it. Have they had any weight loss?

I have been taking it for about 2 month now and have lost 9 pounds. It really isn't for weight loss but it helps. To start with you start with small doses and build up to 10 units. Side effects are nausea (for me that is) and extreme low blood sugars if you don't adjust your amounts of insulin.

I'll defend the doc (for once) and say they have a lot to stay on top of...What I like about my current PCP is that if I bring something to his attention, he's comfortable saying he doesn't know anything about it, but the next time I see him, he has more info--To me, that means he took me seriously, y'know? And what more can I ask?
Belinda, it made you nauseous?

I would like to hear more about this as well.
On my last visit, my endo broached the subject with me. Said it may help level out my morning spike. Thought that a few units only in the morning might do me some good.
He told me to think about it and do some research until our next appt. If nausea is a common side effect, can't say I am too excited about that prospect.

I just started on Symlin about a week ago. It's kinda hard for me to tell the full effect yet because I am not up to the full dosage. I have lowered my insulin intake already and lost a few pounds.

I'm curious about Symlin too. Hey, if it improves my control and even helps me drop a few pounds...I'm all for it! :top: . Can't say I'm excited over taking an injection, but I'm willing to give it a shot (no pun intended  ).
Keep us updated, you all using Symlin, ok?

Belinda, do you find you eat less because you are fuller?
Also, do you find you have any more energy than you did
before? Thank you for your comments.
