I hope this is not a rude question, but I'm just wondering what the average age is of us with type 2. The reason I ask is that in every meeting or event having to do with diabetes, I seem to be the youngest in the room and I wonder if it's just because of where I live or if it's true overall. If I've offended I'm sorry...don't mean to. Just curios.

I turned 54 (arghh!) about 2 weeks ago. It's still hard to get used to the idea! MOST of the time I feel 10-15 years younger than that!
No getting me down for long!! LOL!
I was diagnosed with Type 2 at 45-1/2.
You??

I'll be 70 in 2 weeks - but you know what - lots of people didn't make it that far - I am Blessed. Certainly don't feel my age. Had T2 for 3 years
I can remember when I thought 70 was really, really, old - it don't look so old now. :dancing2:

62 in a couple of weeks.
The reason Type 2s seem to be older is that it this form of diabetes tends to come later in life. The other name for it in the UK is late onset diabetes.
By the way, you forgot to mention your own age :five:

I'm 42 :proud:
When I was living in Canada, I joined a support group. I was the youngest and by far. At first they all thought I was a student nurse or something. How frustrating!

I am 37, and was diagnosed just earlier this year.
I started showing insulin resistance (with PCOS) at around 20...but didn't have a doctor attentive enough to let me know what the symptoms were.

I feel better, I am not the only old person on this forum. I will be 59 in November. Don't know how long I have been diabetic, maybe forever. Since I was a child, one doctor would say yes, the next no. Now I take shots twice a day, my doctor says that makes me type 1, but after reading this list, he could be wrong. :girl:

LOL . . . Maz, I read that sentence all wrong. I thought you said you hadn't been diagnosed as being 28 years old yet! I wish I could have shown you the look on my face!
You looking at a T1 or T2 diagnosis?
