I forgot to put my Lantus back into the fridge after my evening dose. It was out for 2 1/2 hours and basically reached room temp (73F). :banghead:

Is it still good or have I destroyed it? :dontknow:

I've never used Lantus, but I've always kept my insulin at room temperatures without a problem.

I think it is meant to be fine so long as it doesn't go above 77F :top:

I use lantus and never keep it in the fridge. I find it easiest to keep it in my glucometer bag and it's always at room temp. You just have to be sure that it doesn't get hot as in at the beach hot. It should say on the box but I never have a problem.

KCOPE, Love your signature quote. You know, my Pa always said, "Never trust a Hogwallop!"

No problem, it's still good. Quoting from Aventis' website:

http://www.aventispharma-us.com/PIs/lantus_TXT.html

Storage:
Unopened Vial/Cartridge system:
Unopened LANTUS vials and cartridge systems should be stored in a refrigerator, 36°F - 46°F (2°C - 8°C). LANTUS should not be stored in the freezer and it should not be allowed to freeze. Discard if it has been frozen.

Open (In-Use) Vial/Cartridge system:
Opened vials, whether or not refrigerated, must be used within 28 days after the first use. They must be discarded if not used within 28 days. If refrigeration is not possible, the open vial can be kept unrefrigerated for up to 28 days away from direct heat and light, as long as the temperature is not greater than 86°F (30°C).

The opened (in-use) cartridge system in OptiClik™ should NOT be refrigerated but should be kept at room temperature (below 86°F [30°C]) away from direct heat and light. The opened (in-use) cartridge system in OptiClik™ kept at room temperature must be discarded after 28 days. Do not store OptiClik™, with or without cartridge system, in a refrigerator at any time.

LANTUS should not be stored in the freezer and it should not be allowed to freeze. Discard if it has been frozen.

Thanks all for your help, I was afraid I would have to get more and I justopened this vial.

archimeech, isn't that a great movie. I wanted to use the quote from the blind man on the handcar, but it was too big for the sig area.

"You seek a great fortune, you three who are now in chains. You will find a fortune, though it will not be the one you seek. But first... first you must travel a long and difficult road, a road fraught with peril. Mm-hmm. You shall see thangs, wonderful to tell. You shall see a... a cow... on the roof of a cotton house, ha. And, oh, so many startlements. I cannot tell you how long this road shall be, but fear not the obstacles in your path, for fate has vouchsafed your reward. Though the road may wind, yea, your hearts grow weary, still shall ye follow them, even unto your salvation. "

Kc,
I think you missed our earlier movie-line thread. I absolutely LOOOVE that movie. Probably the best movie that Clooney has ever done. I was totally surprized by his performance......"Gopher Everitt?
No thank you, Delmar. A third of a gopher would only awake my appetite without beddin' her back down.
Oh, you can have the whole thing, me and Pete's all ready had ours. Seems we ran across...and entire..... gopher village."

I had to be up at that there crossroads last midnight, to sell my soul to the devil.
Well, ain't it a small world, spiritually speaking. Pete and Delmar just been baptized and saved. I guess I'm the only one that remains unaffiliated.

Sorry, the movie is "O Brother Where Art Thou".

If you haven't seen it rent it, it is great.

Why are you telling our gals that I was hit by a train?
Lots of respectable people have been hit by trains. Judge Hobbie over in Cookville was hit by a train. What was I gonna tell them, that you got sent to the penal farm and I divorced you from shame?
Uh, I take your point. But it does put me in a **** awkward position,
