I know that a number of barbecue sauces have a good bit of sugar in them.
Does anyone have a recipe for a low carb barbecue sauce, perhaps one that uses Splenda rather than sugar?
Thanks.

I haven't tried this particular recipe myself but I have tried several recipes from this website and they've been good.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I might have to jazz it up with some cayenne or habanero though. Yum.

Just saw a "low carb barbque sauce" in the grocery store. I don't remember the brand name.

I've seen them in the store too ... I mainly wanted a recipe so that I can jack it up to meet my scovil needs.

I bought some the other day called Carb Well made by Kraft. It has three carbs in two tablespoons. Tastes good too. I have few recipes that you can use artificial sweeteners in but by the time you add the catsup, onions etc. I would be hard pressed to keep it at three carbs anyway. Anyway, buy some so they will keep making it.

Ed, being from Alabama, you know that 'low carb' & BQ sauce should not be used in the same sentence:) That said, I had my fill of some wonderful N. Alabama pulled pork today with the regular sauce,,,,,,,,,,,only thing, I got it on the side and may have eaten all of a teaspoon of the stuff.
You find a good low carb sauce, please tell the whole world.

TvBabe, this recipe turned out very good! Very nice flavor. I will admit, though, I added some ground chile pepper to kick it up a notch though!
Thanks for sharing the URL.

The company Walden Farms makes sugar free barbeque sauce. I haven't tried it, but I've tried a number of their salad dressings and dips, and they're quite good! This stuff is sugar free, carb free, fat free, calorie free, etc. I found it at www.waldenfarms.com. So, if you try it, let me know how it tastes!

That would be great. I have some cook books too ... but it's also nice to hear about recipes people have "kitchen tested".
Thanks!
How about one you can buy in the store? :)
I've been using it for a few months and it's the most delicious barbeque sauce in the world!

Have fun!
Paprika
Black Pepper
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Cumin
Cayenne Pepper
Ground Crushed Red Pepper Seeds
Ginger
Allspice or cinnamon
I like to make my own using
-tomato paste,
-liquid smoke,
-low sodium soy sauce
-worcestershire sauce
-chilli powder
-paprika
-chopped onion
-minced garlic
-tiny drop of mustard
-pinch of splenda
(sometimes I'll add ginger or chopped jalepenos for a kick)
I just throw it all together, so I can't tell you quantities. but its better if its sat a day or so to marinate in the fridge

Fired up the smoker this last weekend. Got out some aged Maple from some downed trees due to the hurricanes last year. Threw together some of the rub and made a treat for everyone at work. Needless to say, the babybacks didn't last long. Good thing I set aside some for the boss. :hypocrite

Try Walden Farms BBQ Sauce. NO cals and no carbs, tastes alright. They also make salad dressings as well.
I use Carb Options low carb BBQ sauce. I mentioned it in the carbs and calories thread. We make BBQ chicken pizza with whole wheat Boboli bread.
Carb Options makes salad dressing and other condiments too. Blue Labels.
Also has anyone tried Mt. Olive no sugar added Bread and Butter Pickles? Yum! Good pickles for summertime was one of the things I used to miss most. I think Vlasek is about to release some no sugar pickles too.

I think it's called Walton Farms. No cals, no carbs and tastes pretty good. They also make a line of salad dressings the same way.

aurther bryants original is pretty low in sugar according to the label, compared to others..not sure if its nationwide, as i am in the kansas city area. its kinda spicy, & if i want that sweet smokey kansas city style sauce, i just put it in a bowl, add some liquid smoke & a little splenda.
