i went today for my annual eye exam,things were going good until the dilated part, he casually says i see 1 microaneurysm ,of course at that momen t i freak out.he says since its only one i'm not worried. see you in a year. now my question is do i worry about this.

microaneurysm

According to google, it is the first sign of eye damage resulting from many years of high blood sugar and can be reversed if glucose levels are improved.

Microaneurysms are Small protuberances on the retinal blood vessels. The first sign of eye damage caused by many years of high blood glucose levels. Sometimes, they are reversible if the blood glucose control is improved. Christie, I wouldnt take ANY risks. Are you abel to see another doctor?

I would say no. My brother had something like that once and they just told him to come back in a year and they would look again and see if it progressed and when he went back it was gone. The doctor wasn't sure if he mistakenly saw something or if it just went away on it's own, which some things can do. Anyways he's good now with no problems.

see this is weird since i never have had high sugar for long periods of time,except for recently when my sugars began to go up in the middle of the night,i told my then dr about it she only said your a1c are good don't worry, (a1c was 5.3),i am switching drs but i can't get in until like the 25th of this month.i told the eye dr i was panicing and he just said oh your doing good for being t1 for 22 years ,so i'm sitting here half crying thinking i will be blind and my kids won't have a mom when i can't see.

I've never had problems with high sugar that I'm aware of but I've got a lot of nerve damage now. I've got a lot of numbness in the fingers and toes and I can't eat very fast without getting VERY uncomfortable, being unable to swallow and then vomiting. I don't know why this has happened since I've always tried to keep my blood sugar in good control, but it has.
