Hi!

I am new to this forum and to this wonderful disease called Diabetes. I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago after screening for shoulder surgery. Look forward to seeing all of you around the forums. All advice will be warmly appreciated - once my head stops spinning.

John

Welcome to the site. Tell us a little more about how you were diagnosed and what you have been told to do so far to treat it. Then the experts (us here) will tell you the correct way to handle it all. LOL. Also, are you type 1 or 2?

I was having a problem with a calcium deposit in my shoulder. After several months of phys therapy with little relief, the doc agreed to surgery. I went for pre-op testing and when the blood results came back my BG was around 340. After a subsequent test I was diagnosed with type II diabetes. Doc has me on metformin and actos. I was also diagnosed with High BP and High Cholesteral and am taking meds for those as well.

Have visited the dietician twice, and am on a low fat high carb diet plan.

Thanks,

John

Hi John: :wavey: Good to meet you and Welcome to Tony's Forum,(and
ours, now your's). :) Diabetes is wonderful?? Wow, that's the way to be. That's not a word I would have used to describe it, but keep that attitude up and you'll slid into control easily. :D I know.........
Just take it all slow since you are very new to it and make sure you
understand what you are learning. If you don't understand ask for a
clearer explanation. There is alot to learn, eventually you will understand and feel comfortable and your head will stop spinning. You'll never like Diabetes
but you will learn to get along with it and even kick IT in the butt once in
a while. You'll be OKAY. :five:

Welcome to the clan buddy. Any questions, just ask. There's a wealth of experience amongst the Metformin junkies regarding side effects! :toilet:

As you can see in my signature, I'm on Metformin and Actos along with Gliclazide.

Hi John, and as the others said, welcome to the club. :shakehand I'm Type I, so may not be too much help in your area, but there are many good people here that can share experiences and help with any questions you might have. Hope you learn lots. Hang in there! You've found a great place to share feelings, frustrations and ask questions. Glad you've found us.
