I got my blood results back this week. And they really don't make sense.

This last three months my blood sugar has been dreadful! totally and utterly bad. Neally evertime I tested my bg was averaging at about 10mmol/l. And often even 16 mmol/l or more sometimes to be honest. I' was stressed and couldn't eat and have moved house twice. I was just generally unable to keep control of my bg.

Yet My A1c result was 6.2 :hmmmm2: I wasn't having lots of lows so I dont understand why it's like this really. The tests I'm doing are getting better during the day now, but for those who know about my ex.... he's back in the uk... :argh: just when I was moving on he calls :banghead: My blood sugar was 7.1mmol/l just before he called..... it was 20.0 when I hung up the phone !!!!!!!!!!! :o

So. I guess we have established stress has the effect of increasing your blood sugar levels, eh?

How have your readings been before going to bed and after waking up? I find that if I can control my "sleeping sugars", my A1c's can be real good despite what they do otherwise...I figure it's an average, and since we sleep about .25 to .3333 of our lives, if our sugars during that time are good, the average comes out real good.

Did you run an accuracy check on your glucose meter? Maybe it's been reading high.

No I haven't. I might do that soon. But I trust the readings pretty much to be honest... when i was high I certainly felt it.

I will get some solutions to check my metre with soon though.

You could be running low during the night and not know if. Or running low right after your meals within an hour and then returning to normal later on. Remember an A1C is 3 months of history and is just an average. So for every high, you have to have an equal low during some time.

Yeah, my A1c was lower than expected, then I realized I was going into the 50s on a nightly basis.

I get where you're coming from Laura, I've been running alot higher than normal and peaking sometimes in the 14's. I thaught there would be no way my a1c would be lower that 7 something. I just got it back and it was 5.9. I just don't get how it could be this low when my numbers have been so wacked lately.

I know what you mean...

I was having horrible blood sugar readings for awhile prior to my last A1c, and yet somehow I managed to pull off a 6.7 . Still, I wasn't ecstatic about this reading, b/c I knew from the reading I was getting that things weren't where they should be. Unfortunately, they still aren't :(.

I'm trying to test more often, so I can get a fuller picture of what's going on. Maybe that's something for you to consider too.

Hang in there!
