Eri's mom

Hi again Eri has to go to the pediatician and then MAYBE to the hospital. She's had a headache and her ears have been sore, and she's been throwing up(3 times today)...has gone from the 300's to the 60's. , back up to the 300's and then to 129, to the 300's again and now is at HI...and she threw everything up after a snack. It's so frustrating,b ut she'll get over this and beat it.
I leave in a few...I'm so beyond tired b/c I was up taking care of her...she started getting sick around 5 in the morning...ugh...exhausted. (she couldn't sleep until after 1am)...
I will keep updates...I am just hoping and praying they can take care of it at the pediatricians.

Thanks...we got back a little while ago...long night for the ped's tonight.
She has a sinus infection...maybe some other virus, we'll find out later.
She has had increased insulin(novolog), and the ketones went away(thank God), and her sugar has gone down to 579mg/dL. Yep, that's still REALLY high, but hopefully, with the amoxicillan and more insulin, it will drop.
Other than that, she goes back next Tuesday for the flu shot. She still, obviously, feels horrid, but I know that rest will take care of it. We have to get in touch w/ the endo tomorrow again, unless, of course, she has ketones again tonight.(or if she can't keep anything down). She's not able to return to school until Wednesday, so she'll get a lot of rest in until then.
That's about it. Seems like since we've moved here she gets sick all the time...ugh.
Shutting up!!!

My granddaughter is about Eri's age, she throws up every time she gets sick, too. But she doesn't have to deal with diabetes. Still, I know about not getting enough sleep because they are sick. The biggest problem with that is that you will get run down and susceptible to picking up something from her. I am sorry for poor little Eri being sick yet again, but I hope you can keep well.

OH, I'm so sorry to hear this :frown:. Being sick really sucks :thumpdown...and it sounds like she really got it bad this time. On the bright side, if she had to get this, at least she got it now and not on Christmas itself. That would be a real good way to ruin the holidays.
I'll be thinking of you all and I'm sending get-well vibes her way. I hope she feels better soon!

Hey Robin: Geez, well I guess you are tired, no wonder. Sorry, Eri
is sick and what numbers. Well, I'm sure glad that they at least found
what's causing those bad symptoms and were able to give her something
for it. Hopefully, it will get rid of the infection, headache, etc. very soon
and her sugars will be better again. (((Eri))) (((Robin))) Then you can
get some much needed rest. :)

 What a miserable time you have been through for much too long. You and Eri are both in my prayers. Having a child with diabetes and keeping that in control has to be harder than having it yourself.
I hope you can get a rest from this very soon. How you keep from getting sick from being run down is beyond. Best of luck and love to you both. Hope you can get it licked by Christmas :santaclau or before.

Thank you so much everyone :)
OK, she woke up this morning and it all went back to yesterday...morning reading was 517...this stinks. I k now she's only had 2 doses of antibiotics, but her ketones went from gone at the doc's office to moderate this morning, and I DID get her down to 387, but I also gave her some extra novolog...and she's drinking water, doesn't want to eat b/c even water is giving her the "throw up burps"(sorry, TMI)...
Getting ready to call the endo...will probably get another adjustment in insulin. At least I have my dad coming over to watch the kids while I was SUPPOSED to go to work, but, IF we have to go in for that IV push they mentioned yesterday, at least he will still be here(my son is up from FL right now).
The good thing, she hasn't actually thrown up again...just nauseated and miserable w/ the sinus infection.
OK, will keep posted...and thanks again!!!

Thanks, Cin :)
Eri had me up most the night...I talked to one of the endo's every 2 hours until 10pm last night...at that point, her sugar went down to 273...but we only gave her half her nighttime NPH...she did get a total aof 14 units of novolog between lunch and supper, not too big an adjustment at all...
She's been throwing up still(well, let's just say the typical gastro illness)...still has ketones, but now between a trace and moderate. She wouldn't leave the 400's(high 400's) until this morning around 10. She won't eat, she is just drinking propel and water. I have GOT to get her to get something in her stomach.
She's obviously home from school still. This is day 3. Ahh...she's missed so much. Good thing for her 504.
I have to call the endo at 2 to let them know where she is at. She sounds horrid, but I guess that is par for the course.
Now for me to go run and pick up my scripts(went to the doc today myself)...put me on regelan(sp?) and antibiotic(ear infection...go figure...lol)...and he wants me to go in for testing on my pancreas...fun!!!
OK, I'll shut up...I have GOT to remember to pick up Eri more kleenex, for some reason, it keeps slipping my mind!!!(writing a note to self now)...
Seriousalutely, shutting up!!!

One good thing coming out of this illness is that it struck her now instead of the day before Christmas. It never fails for my family, someone is ALWAYS sick on Christmas day.
Hope she continues to get better and enjoys her Christmas! :)

Well, Eri's keytones are now high...although her bg is down to 373. They only had me give her 2 units of novolog b/c her sugar was a bit lower, but she still had between a trace and moderate ketones. She did eat some minestrone soup, got sick, and that's about that.
I just spoke to the endo on call again. We're going w/ the same dosage as last night.
Hopefully she will get through this by later tonight/tomorrow morning.
It would be something if NONE Of us were sick for the holiday(same w/my family, someone is usually sick).
Hopefully she will be able to make it to school by Friday.

Thanks, Therese :)
She's doing better, although the sinus infection like to hang on...and she just got her flu shot today. Her attitude is back, so she is obviously feeling better than b/f!!! :)(then again, her brother is up from FL so they both love to argue...lol).
God bless :)

Robin,
That's good news :top:! I'm so glad she is doing a little better...and, it's true, if she can bicker with a sibling that's a good sign that she is feeling better .
Thanks for the update!
