Do I have a diabetes?

Earlier this year, I got a blood sugar level reading of 11 in a normal blood test. The doctor suggested me to take a OGGT. The result is

fast level - 5.5 mmol/L
1 hour - 15.6
2 hours - 12

The doctor was not sure whether it was a diabetes, and asked me to have another normal blood test. The blood sugar level was 5.5 again. He was still not sure, but another doctor said it was.

I consulted a diatetion, who asked me to buy a blood sugar meter and moniter it. Moreover, I controlled my diet carfully.

In the following months, the fasting level never went higher than 6. And two hours after level was also lower than 6.5. I guess it may be because I controlled my diet carfully.

But I am still confused whether I really have a diabetes. Can any one analyse my situations please?:hmmmm2:

I do not have any symptons at all. I lost some weight in these months. I think it was because of my diet and exercises.

My opinion? Those numbers do seem a bit off. However, you can't rely on opinions. Please go to another doctor... A doctor is the only one who can diagnose you...I'd suggest seeing one asap. Diabetes is a bit daunting, but it's better to know for sure and manage it, then to be uncertain and possibly be letting damage be done.

Those numbers are high enough to diagnose you with diabetes.

Glucose tolerance tests may lead to one of the following diagnoses:

Normal Response

A person is said to have a normal response when the 2-hour glucose level is less than or equal to 110 mg/dl.

Impaired Fasting Glucose

When a person has a fasting glucose equal to or greater than 110 and less than 126 mg/dl, they are said to have impaired fasting glucose. This is considered a risk factor for future diabetes, and will likely trigger another test in the future, but by itself, does not make the diagnosis of diabetes.

Impaired Glucose Tolerance

A person is said to have impaired glucose tolerance when the 2-hour glucose results from the oral glucose tolerance test are greater than or equal to 140 but less than 200 mg/dl. This is also considered a risk factor for future diabetes. There has recently been discussion about lowering the upper value to 180 mg/dl to diagnose more mild diabetes to allow earlier intervention and hopefully prevention of diabetic complications.

Diabetes

A person has diabetes when oral glucose tolerance tests show that the blood glucose level at 2 hours is equal to or more than 200 mg/dl. This must be confirmed by a second test (any of the three) on another day. There has recently been discussion about lowering the upper value to 180 mg/dl to diagnose more people with mild diabetes to allow earlier intervention and hopefully prevention of diabetic complications.
It looks like you have diabetes to me. Your fasting level is fine. But your 1 hour and 2 hour GTT readings are way to high. The fact that your fasting levels are OK just means that that your diabetes is still at an early stage of development.

It seems that I need to take another test to confirm it. Acutally, when I did the last test, I was under pressure for something else for several days. Maybe it contributed to my blood sugar to some extent.
