The New England Journal of Medicing just published an article that concludes that those with T1 diabetes who aggressively control it for 6 1/2 years can drastically reduce their risk of developing heart disease.

Check out this article on MSNBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10563142/

My reaction:

1) DUH!!!
2) Even more incentive to be aware and be responsible.

BTW: 5.8 on my 2nd A1c; Woo-hoo!!!

Good article but now I need to put my sarcastic side note in. What doesn't reduce the risk of heart problems? Heck, I'm waiting for the one that says living on a deserted island helps since you have no polution. I guess these days it seems anything you do has a chance of some disease or some form of cancer.

Ah, the old "hide and ignore everything and it will all be fine" theory, eh?

It's tough to understand what's good and what's not from everything we read, especially when they keep retracting or refuting previous studies that, when they were originally released, touted an incredible breakthrough in proving something extraordinary that is now considered moot. (Or, as "Joey" from friends would say, "Moo".)

Happy Holidays Everyone!
