Ok. I just found out that my doctor's office has another CDE in the practice that I did not know about. They want me to see her on Thursday since mine has flown the coop. I have never seen this woman before. What are some things that I should discuss with her? I know that I'm going to discuss insulin and carb ratios but other than that I'm drawing a blank on what to ask. Any advice?? Thanks in advance.:nurse:

I think mostly they will be asking the questions. The only things I could think of asking would be how she would like to see your treatment go differently. If she wants more shots, different insulin, more blood tests. Just get a feel for what she thinks you should change.

Well if it was me and I had a choice I would go in with lots of questions and conduct it like a job interview....yes it is crazy but essentially you are wanting them to do a job for you....being your CDE and if there is more in the practice then you can decide which you want. I would go ask questions that you got the answers from your doctor on things that worked for you and ask this person. You will be able to tell what type of person or how they are going to care for your diabetes by their response and knowledge. Good Luck.

Hmmm,
I always OBSERVE a new Endo. The doctor's actions, knowledge, and the level of concern. I hate doctors that are uncaring and that are desperate to get done with you. I would ask about the ideal A1c he would recommend for you. Questions like, If I need you at an odd time due to an emergency, besides dialing 911, can I reach you?

My CDE visit today went well. Was not happy with the A1C result but we know what caused it and how to fix it. LOL. I really seem to like this lady and she was very impressed with my commitment. We sat down and figured out my correction factor. Kept the insulin-carb ratios the same. Got a new perscription for a glucogon kit. She also said that she will keep me in mind for a One Touch cable when the rep comes back (YAY !!!!). I also told her of this wonderful site and all of you wonderful people. She is gonna recommend this site to her other diabetic patients and will be checking the site out. Thanks for the support gang.:)
I just realized that this will be my 2000th post.:) :aetsch:

Cin-
So glad your appointment went well :top:. That's great :top:! It's important to have a great diabetes team on your side...and sounds like you do. My suggestion? I wouldn't be afraid to call your CDE if you have any questions, your health is SO important and it's esp. important to voice your concerns and questions :questionm.
Also, try not to stress too much about the A1c...you'll get it down! We all have faith in you, so hang in there
All the best

I'm glad you liked your new CDE. I like my doctor too & he always has time for me - when I saw him last week I thought he'd booked me in for a double appt but when I was there he told me he'd booked a triple appt so we had plenty of time to discuss everything properly.

Sounds like you have a great new CDE. Hang in there on the A1C's. With the holidays & the like, that can put a damper on results. It sounds like you & your new CDE are taking the "bull by the horns," so your levels & A1C should start to come back down again, soon.
Congrats on your 2000th, by the way...lol. ;)
