I love cereal.. Used to love frosted flakes (thats out of the quetion now)
what (cold)cereal should I buy...any reccomendations? which milkshould I add?
what juices can I have?
I'm having a hard time finding stuff to eat since most stuff out there (other than veggies and fruits and whole grains) are loaded with sugar or carbs.
Thank you in advance.

Are you trying to eat a food with no carbs in it? The reason I ask is because I've been type 1 for 23 yeas and I have a regular breakfast. Most mornings it consists of eggs, biscuits, bacon or sausage, and a glass of pineapple-orange juice. Some morenings it is Raisin Bran.
There is really no reason you can't eat the above as long as you give a shot that counteracts the carbs you just ate. Now if you are trying to avoid the shot, then that eliminates many food items.

For cereal I love Kashi "Go Lean" it tastes awesome and it's very filling. It's loaded with fibre and protien but tastes more like granola. It stays crunchy and doesn't get slimy. Other cereals are out there just look for more fibre ones. As far as juice goes, honestly I only have it if my sugars are low. It is just too full of sugar. I usually drink water (lots) and tea and diet pop. Carbs aren't necisarily the enemy you can have them just in certain amounts. Do you know how many a day your dietitian is recommending? I eat around 120-160 a day. Maybe I missed it but what type are you? Have you been to a dietitian yet? It's all confusing I know but you'll get the hang of it and others will be along to give you more advise. Take heart: the first time I went to the store after being dx'd I cried because I could find anything I could eat. Now it's an adventure.

Liz brought up a point that I thought of but didn't type. Having a juice drink is fine, but in an excessing amount it may make you feel weird for a bit. I know that when I have my orange juice in the morning it peaks in about 30 minutes causing me to run somewhat high (sometimes 200+) until the insulin has time to catch up and bring it down, which it always does. But the other normal carbs I have don't cause any problems if I give the correct insulin.

I am one of the few people in the world that isn't fond of cereal. However, I sometimes eat it when I am in a hurry. I can pretty much eat anything for breakfast too, then cover it with insulin. However, I don't do the regular juice thing. I found Ocean Spray Lite Cranberry juice and I will drink that in place of a high sugar juice.

I thaught of another quick thing that I like for snacks: I love sunflower seeds. They have equal amounts of carbs and fibre so they cancel each other out. Also, since it's a nut it's a protien too. Ya just have to watch the frequency and amount as it is high in fat..but at least it's good fat.

well I cant really eat ANYTHING i want because I dont know which type I am yet.
My Fasting glucose has ranged from the 80's to 106 today
and my reading before meanls (in the evening, however I eat snacks during the day) ranges from 80's to 140 (with one high of 176 2 hours after eating)
I'm an ER Registered Nurse and decided to do a FS after having polyuria and polydipsia for a month. FS was 420, I had my blood drawn ASAP and the blood glucose was 500, with an H1C of 11.7. This was on the 25th of Dec. Since then I have adjusted my diet BIG TIME! I try to get most of the carbs from fiber, no sugar, plenty of veggies, some fruits and I've been drinkin chinese herbal teas that lower blood glucose. Above are the results. I need to go see an Endocrinologist but I dont know what he'll tell me that I dont know. My case seems to be peculiar, seems I have responded well to diet but I have trouble finding things to eat, hence my post.

I need to go see an Endocrinologist but I dont know what he'll tell me that I dont know.
He'll be able to tell you what type of diabetes you have. An antibody test should flag up straight away whether you have T1 or T2.
If you are a T1 then I suspect you are a developing T1, which is why your BG is still relatively stable when you practically eliminate carbs. Once you start being treated properly for your diabetes, you will be able to eat a much wider range of foods, regardless of which diabetes you have.
