Bracelets for UK

I was fortunate enough to get an exciting Medic bracelet for Christmas :biggrin: . I'm just wondering what to have engraved on it? I know when I was living in Canada there was a hotline number to phone in case of emergencies which a medic would call in order to retrieve my hospital info. Is there anything like this in the UK? Or if not what info do other people have on their bracelets? I was thinking "Type 1 insulin Dependant Diabetic, but should I have my hospital number engraved too?

Medical alert is the bracelet you're thinking of when you say they can call in and get your info. But you have to buy that from them and pay a yearly fee. It should be available in the UK as one of their selling points is that no matter where you are in the world, anyone can call them in an emergancy and get you medical info. Hope this helps

I have a medic alert bracelet... and on it has 'insulin dependent diabetes' on it, it also has the UK phone number... and my registration number which someone wud quote if they found me unconcious or in trouble.

I need something like this, but i hate how they're all ugly and quite expensive. I have a neclace with emergency info on it, only the emergency number is my ex's and he's on the other side of th world :rolleyes: so its usless now.

I think i might get a braclet maybe.

I used to like MediTags because they do the dogtags, which for a bloke are much cooler than a girly bracelet. However, if you do get one, get either the solid gold or the solid silver ones and don't skimp on the chain. The plated ones corrode and will scratch up your neck like anything and make the tag unreadable.

I don't actually both now with any kind of ID jewelry - I know I should though, so I've got an ADA charity wristband now, which lets me be sorta unduly trendy and hints I might be diabetic. I used to have the Diabetes UK one but the wording was printed rather than engraved so I've now got an American band instead.

I have a Medic Alert bracelet and it's quite nice - I had to pay quite a bit for it though. There is a choice of chains - the cheap one is awful!! It is Medic Alert, as someone else has said, that you get them from and has a reg no and number and name etc. Reg No ties up with medication.

It's £20.00 per year subscription. Hated wearing it at first and don't always - normally if I go out on my own shopping or feel a bit rough!
