Problems with Novolog

Hey! I recently just switched from Humalog to Novolog and every since then I have felt really weriod. It is hard to explain I feel weak yet not focused kinda like I took some kind of drugs. Novolg is the only Med. I have been on besides Linsinopril. I thought that my blood pressure might be droping but my doctor says it was 120/60.

My doctor thinks that when my sugar starts droping I feel this way. I am feeling it different than with the humalog. He says that it could even be 120 and just frop 1 point and I can feel it.

Is this normal? Or what does it sound like to you?

I just hate feeling weriod!! My sugars have been alot lower like droping to 25 and I didn't even realize it (28, 35, 40) I just thought something else was wrong. On humalog when my sugar would drop I would feel shacky and hungery now I just feel weriod.:confused:

I've been on Novolog since early June 03, and I don't believe that I've had any adverse reaction to Novolog Vs Humalog--
the only reason I switched was so that I could use the Induo system

I thought I read that Novolog is faster acting than Humalog--maybe that's it:rolleyes:

Michelle, is possible to purchase a blood pressure monitor? I bought one in May of 2002 and now keep a regular watch of it. However, even when the first of the two readings (can't remember what it's called right off hand) is below 100, I don't feel strange, so low blood pressure may not be your problem. Since you live in Birmingham, perhaps I could loan my blood pressure monitor to you for a while.
I go into insulin shock really easy and frequently do so without knowing it, since I suffer from brittle diabetes. I will sometimes feel really strange when it happens. I depend on checking my blood sugar frequently and Brandy, my cat, who's also my only friend in the world, warning me. I was checking my sugar 8 to 12 times a day but thanks to being among the hardcore unemployed, I've had to cut back to 5 times a day. I was using some cheap blood glucose strips which are no longer being manufactured and I'll probably run out of my supply of them by the end of this month. Not too sure what the future holds when that happens unless I can find employment, which isn't likely to happen.
In fact, I feel a little strang right now and probably need to check my blood sugar. It was around 120 the last time I checked it.

Have you been testing your BG as soon as you feel wierd? Or better yet, maybe you ought to start testing every 2 hours. May show trends, or catch lows that you can't feel. NovoRapid is marketed as acting faster than Humulog, so you may find that you need to cut back your dose. Of course, this is different for everyone. Were your BG's tight before you switched to NovoRapid, or did they tend to run higher?

I was reading somewhere awhile back they had reports from user who switch from Humalog to Novolog. I think it was mainly people using the pump. The reports came in that Novolog was stonger and faster than Humalog. So people that Had switched to Novolog had to lower their dose.

Since my son switched from Humalog and NPH to Novolog and Lantus, he doesn't seem to feel his lows. He will test before eating and be in the 50's or 60's and not even realize. I don't know if it is the Novo, or the Lantus that causes that.

Yep lower your dose, You'll find the median.

And test alot until you find the right dose.
