View Full Version : HbA1c Brag...
Just went to the endo this week...
A1c result 6.8
All other blood results normal
except HDL Cholesterol (the good kind) was a tad high... which is weird, but not problematic... or so says my doc.
But A1c of 6.8! (and that's without having tons of lows!) I always hang around, but just above 7.

I'm looking forward to getting there as well. Started out at 15.7--six weeks later down to 9.2 (single digits--whoohoo!). My endo wants me down under 8 by next visit (two months)--I'm aiming for under 7. It's 2/24 so we'll see . . .

I go for mine today...wish me luck! :)
Hi Erin and all,
So glad your HB1ac was great :top: Mine HAD been in the 6.5-7.5 range but at last check a month ago was up past 7.5 but not by much. I pump insulin and am really trying since the holidays are now over to get tighter control like before. It just takes such discipline:argh:

i have 5.3 is this abnormally low or something? everyone seems to have around a 7
Thanks for all the congratulations guys! I'm still on cloud 9 :)
Someone,
7 is sort of the "line in the sand" drawn by the diabetes powers that be (the doctor associations and drug companies and such academics). It is sort of the middle ground where the chance of complications is decreased without significantly raising the risk of severe hypoglycemic events.
A low a1c of 5.3 or something like that, is either a reflection of AMAZING control... or of someone having tons and tons of hypos.
If you're not having tons of hypos 5.3 is really really great!
