Hi everybody
i found out that i have diabetes type II, last summer. but, i tried to act like it would ago away like it came. so i took the meds, but made no changes. at first that was fine and my BS numbers went down, sometimes toooo low. so i asked my Dr. to change my meds. but the new meds made my itch, and sick to my stomach. so i stopped taking the meds all together. and now my BS numbers are out of control. but, it's making me take a serious look at my health....
so that's why i'm here cause i need help

Hi Mydear!
Glad you're here & taking steps to get back on track. I'm Type I, so may not be able to help much in the way of meds, but what kind of meds made you itch & sick? There may be others here who've experienced like situations, and can help you with it.
Post often, and feel free to vent, ask any questions, and share experiences. We're here to listen, share & help, so we'll do our best to assist. Welcome to the family, and here's hoping things will get better for you from here on out.
Sincerely,
Dewey :shakehand

Hi MyDear and welcome. We were all in your place at one time or another.
It will get easier. Do you count carbs and what medications do you take?

hi..... thanks dewey
at first i was on glyburide 2.5 mg once a day which worked good for a while, really brought my BS down. but then it would be so low, like between 50/70 in the morning, and i didn't know what to do. so i wanted the Dr. to get me off that pill and she put me on metformin 500 mg twice a day. i hated it from the begining. i have excema and it really irritated me and i itched all over my back and arms. and now i have scares all over me. it also made my stomach hurt and made me throw-up, and i didn't lower my BS. but when i went to the Dr because my BS was so hi they put me on a 1000 mg twice a day. boy was i miserable. so i stopped taking all my meds because at first i didn't know which once was causing the problems. anyway when i got back to the Dr and she put me back on metformin 500 mg and the itching started again, i asked to be put back on Glyburide.
my number are starting to go back down from 472 to 185 right now and i'm begining to feel much better. i'm hoping with the right diet, some good advice and support that i'll be able to get this under control.

hi penny thanks
yes i count carbs. i did atkins about 2 years ago and lost 100 pounds. but lost my focus and gained most of it back. to tell you the truth i think that the very-low carbing is what caused me to have high BS problems..... let me explain. even tho i was very over weight i didn't have diabetes. then i begin low carbing only eating about 5 carbs a day for a long time. then i went crasy and all i was eating was carbs and my body can't handle it and i found out the i have diabetes
but to answer your question yes i low carbs. lean meats and cooked veggie 3 times a day for me.
oh......what brought me to this site was a search for the effect of coffee on your BS numbers. i like to have a cup or 2 a day.

Welcome Mydear...
I am a T1, but we r not too different.
I low carb ALL the time and my BS couldn’t be better. I do not avoid them completely, but I do watch them a whole lot. I think you are having a hard time dealing with this and I understand. Like many stated here, we have all been there and wished it would go away. I think you must try hard to accept this and continue your medication, or at least one that agrees with you. There are no shortcuts to this wonderful disease. You want to take full control of your diabetes before it takes a hold of you. You are able to do it and we can help, but you must start by accepting, which ever medication you end up taking.

hey MyDear... I'm new here too... so we can learn together. I just found out last week... so it's all new to me. The main thing to remember is to get control of your diabetes... so it doesn't control you.
