So this isn't a question about whether or not I can or should have them - it's more of an observation I've made having just had a boy three months ago with my wife (I'm Type I, she's not).
Prior to baby (a.k.a. the sleepless wonder), I could proudly say that my A1C's have been basically on cruise control at 5.0 +/- 0.3 for the past 5-6 years. I had a test two months after he was born and it came back at 6.5!! Yikes! I know, still not terrible - but I'm just amazed at the never-ending number of ways that a newborn will affect your life. Now that I know how he affects my life and consequently my blood sugar, I've spent a lot more energy having to monitor myself "diabetically"! (I like that word)

Stress, sleepless nights...I would be surprised if you didn't have trouble with your BS!:s: I like that word, too, almost sounds diabolic!

Well, after a month of intensive monitoring - and perhaps a little overkill - I brought my A1C down from 6.5 (one month ago) to 4.4! (well below my historical average of 5.0) Oops....! I didn't have too many BGs below 60, but I didn't have any highs whatsoever either.
Too bad this same affect and control can't be achieved with the baby's sleeping habits. He was up at 9pm, 10:30pm, 1:50am, 4:30am, 6am, and 7am last night! Good fun....

Ha Bryan! That's cute "sleepless wonder". ;) I'm actually surprised
that he is up that often. Oh well, all baby's are different also. Just
like snowflakes. But isn't he a Cutie and Well-Worth getting up for?
A Big Congrats to you and your wife. Best Wishes to you's. I'm sure
he'll make you proud. What is his name? :star: Good to hear that
your sugar level is okay again. Take it easy eh, Daddy. :)

We named him Cyrus Allan. Allan is my middle name, and we once knew a really cool dog named Cyrus... so there you have it! Well I suppose that's only half true, Cyrus is a family name as well... : )
Last night I put him to bed at 7:30 and sat with him until midnight to see exactly what it is that wakes this baby up. What I found out is that during every sleep cycle transition (occurs once every 50-60 minutes), he twitches and then proceeds to rub his eyes as hard as he possibly can. Of course, this almost woke him up every time I observed it happen. I'm not sure what I can do about it - he's now figuring out how to use his hands - I suppose he'll have to learn when NOT to use his hands as well!
He's really a good boy with a HUGE personality, we're just trying to keep that in mind as he continues to wake up at all hours of the night!

Oh Good. :D I'm glad. ^^^^^^^^^^^^Cool name. I know
it sounds familiar for some reason. Not a boxer, eh??

That's too bad. I can't think what to do about that but wipe his eye areas good before bed, which I'm sure you's do anyways. Maybe the fuzzies from the blanket tickles his eyes. I wouldn't think he'd have an allergy. Na.
Well, I hope he outgrows that so he can get some uninterrupted sleep. Act-
ually, that probably isn't that unusual. He doesn't have dry skin on his eye area, eh?
Yes, I'm sure he's a Sweetheart and he'll bring you lots of joy and Good memories. Have Fun and Try and get some sleep too. :)

Hey, Bryon!! 6.5 A1C sounds wonderful with a newborn baby, disburbed nights and a little stress added. The little tykes are absolutely wonderful, but they do add a challenge. Enjoy the good times--there's nothing like sleeping in a rocking chair in the middle of the night. I love there soft little heads on my cheek. :top: I remember those days a hundred years ago. (Well, 30 years anyway.) Now they are spread all over the country side.
Back to you--Congrats on doing so well with the little fellow stepping in.
