This is looking quite good, especially if it improves control.

For the others of us, we're "In the Future"

How would a peroral insulin product be used in practice? The specific indications that NOBEX is targeting are initially focused on the type 2 diabetic patient: (1) first-phase insulin replacement by a pre-meal oral dose for control of post-prandial blood glucose; and (2) bedtime dose to control overnight and early morning fasting hyperglycemia. In the future, type 1 diabetic patients may also be able to fully control post-prandial glucose with peroral insulin in combination with a basal insulin product.

Yes, it looks very promising. Delivering the insulin to where it is needed the most should make using it effectively a lot easier. And I can't see why T1s shouldn't be able to use it. Maybe they want to prove the concept first with T2s because it is safer.

I'd like to know the acting time for the oral insulin. It looks like it might take too long if you had a big meal. Still, I would appreciate a pill over shots. easier to take around, less hiding as well.
