Anyone turn old minimed pump in for a credit?

I just got my new 715 and can turn the old 508 in to MiniMed for a $500 credit.

I called and asked if I could turn my Old 507 in and keep the 508 and they are supposed to call me back on that.

But I was wondering, has anyone here done this?

What did you get with the credit?
And are there any downsides to it? (i will still have one pump as a spare)

No, I haven't, but I have been wondering the same thing as you! I use a Paradigm 712 right now, and I got it when I didn't have insurance, and so now I am paying through the nose for this thing. And, I have been thinking of calling them and finding out if there is any way of trading this one in for the 715 and also if that would take care of some of the cost on this one. I still owe around $3700 for the one I'm using right now. I think that now I am going to call and find out.

Do you like the 715? Are you doing well with it? I'd love to know.

I turned in my 512 for a Deltec (when I switched companies), and my 507 for the Animas IR1200. It's beneficial in that you get a discount off your new pump (like a trade-in value). If you're able to keep the other pump (507 or 8) as backup, that's good, too. I can't really see downsides to it, but if your new pump ever fails, or if you need to fall back on your old one for any reason, you'll want to be sure you have supplies for it. :thumbsup:

I am kinda in the middle of swapping over to the new pump, reading up on how to use it and everything. :nerd:

I actually have a HUGE stock pile of 3cc resiviors (like 10+ boxes!)

And a couple boxes of sets. I am probably going to turn in all but 1 box of the infusion sets to swap out for the ones that fit the 715, I know they wont swap all the 3 cc's out so thats probably only gonna be a few exchanges. :)

I hope they wont give me trouble for having so many extras! :eviltongu ;)

Twice I elected to keep my old pump in lieu of a $400 credit. I'd rather have extra pumps than a bit of extra money every 4 years. YMMV.

MM will be happy to know you or the insurance paid for extra supplies. I'm sure they aren't going to complain!

I kept my old 508 and one box of supplies. I travel twice a year out of the country and I will love having the backup instead of calling minimed for a backup pump.

I turned in my Animas IR 1000 for a $750 credit when I went to the IR 1200. Most pump companies do have a trade in program within their own company. Sorry, you can't trade an Animas into Minimed, at least not that I know of. Also, don't expect a huge amount more than the $750, but it's exactly that, a credit. And currently right now with my Animas account I believe I have around a $450 credit that is at least a year old. About 6 months after I switched pumps, I switched jobs and therefore insurance companies. My new job/insurance pays 100% for insulin pump supplies. So my credit I assume just sits there.

Right now, my insurance covers everything. So its not like Im going to use it.

BUT... I AM in the middle of switching jobs, so I might be needing that credit soon enough. (hope not) But I guess I better prepare just incase.:vollkomme

Just a thought....but I would think you could also maybe use it to buy other items from the company. Most insurance companies won't cover additional items that say someone like Animas sells, like carrying cases, belt clips, etc above what they send you in the original packaging. I know some companies make some nice pajama options for these pumps. Just a thought there.
