Hello everyone :hello:

My husband joined this site a little while ago and made all of 1 post, lol. I decided that it may be a better idea for me to join for support. He is type1.5 and was diagnosed over 10 years ago. He is still in denial. His bs levels are typically int he 300 - 600 range and he thinks this is fine. His diet is terrible. I am on a 95-100% raw diet and have gotten my pre diabetic bs levels to dead normal. I keep hoping he gets intrigued and starts eating more healthy with me. We've only been married since 10/14/05 and there are days where I wonder if i will be a young widow.

hmmmmm..nothing like an upbeat and perky introduction, lol.

anyway..hi and I look forward to getting to know everyone :)

Welcome :)

Glad you found us...this is a wonderful support forum and I hope you and your husband will come and visit us often

From the sounds of it, your husband sounds like he is a little resistant to making changes in his lifestyle. As much as you plead and beg him, the only way he is going to change is if he wants to. Maybe he hasn't reached that point yet. Until he does, try not to nag him. Just try to encourage him to take care of himself and eat right and leave it up to him. He is an adult afterall.

I know it isn't easy, but hopefully with time he'll realize how important his health is and will work to take control over it.

Take care! :ciao:

Well, let's hope not. I think it took me several years to come to terms with being a diabetic so hopefully he will accept it soon, too.

:wavey: Welcome Keljo! It's nice of you to drop in. Long-term denial is nothing
new unfortunately. I'm sorry to hear that his numbers are that High though.
Do you do the shopping for Groceries? If I was in that situation, I would be tempted to buy only healthy food and make him smaller portion meals. Then
I'd bribe him into testing more often, if he doesn't already. Drinking water is a good way of getting rid of some of the sugar in his system plus to flush his kidneys. Does he do much exercise? Oh, I'm just dreaming, I guess. My Hubbie gets annoyed at me if I test him more than once a week. I know he's been Hypoglycemic since he was little(well, actually I figured it out myself, he didn't know what it was), but I heard it can turn into Type 2, so I bug him about getting dxd. I've always made him healthy foods, but it's only been the last 3 yrs. that I've been giving him smaller portions which he doesn't seem to mind at least.
OOOPPPSS! :D Sorry for babbling. Feel free to ask questions and hope
to see you often. Good Luck. :)
