This morning I forgot to re-attach my pump after showering and went out. I didn't get back home until 5 hours later. I didn't eat anything but I was missing my .75 units per hour basil insulin the whole time. When I got home I checked my BG and it was..... 109?! I don't understand how that could be. It's not like I was overly active or excersizing (sp?) while I was out either. Did anyone else ever experience something like this?

Remember a few things...
1) Insulin has a delayed effect and has 3-5 hours before it is used up. Therefore, you would start running your numbers high immediately, but you really wouldn't notice the full effect until say 3 hours after you got back home and reconnected the pump.
2) You could have been running low to begin with and disconnecting the pump helped to not make you run to the floor.
3) What were you doing while you were gone? Walking, running, any form of excercise in the smallest amount? All of those can play a key factor too.
Now I will say congrats though. It is pretty nice that that happened and luckily you didn't run higher.

You should be able to maintain a good blood glucose for 5 hours. There is however, no question that you must have gone up at least 20 mg/dL. I forgot my Lantus one night and woke up with 150. Now that is not bad..that was 9 hours.

Sorry I took so long to get back, I've been busy.
I did something else stupid, well it sounds stupid. I forgot to bolus wiht my meal last night, pork chops, stuffing, green beans, and 2 buscits. 3 hours later I checked and my BG was 90!? I fugured it would spike later but this moning it was 90 as well. I even tried a different meter and still got 95. I would tend to think that my basil is too high but I am not going low when I skip meals. This is just too weird.

True, I didn't even think of that.
How long have you been diabetic? Could you be going through a honeymoon phase?
