My name is Michele. I have been dx'd at the age of 18 months. I am now 26. Of course when I was younger my mother did all the taking care of me until I grew up and took over. Now I am at the point that I don't feel like dealing with this whole stupid:stupid: diabetes thing anymore. I need so much help getting back on track. So I am glad I found this site hopefully to get back on track!!!! Need all the help I can get.

Lots of good folks that are willing to help and listen-------very nice people, indeed.

As to that, again, welcome to the club, we, all of us, feel that way with some frequency, but I believe that spending time Here
helps with attitude-------lots and lots of support to be found Here.

So what did you do to turn yourself around? You think working at a doctors office where diabetics come that are losing their limbs or having trouble healing I would wake up. I guess I am at the point, "This cant happen to me" which my dr did blood work the other day and found out that my kidney is starting to take affect on this. HELLO you think I would wake up.

Actually, we've been watching you and hiding from you. Now that we feel you're ready, we've revealed ourselves to you.

Well... DENIAL can take us by the hand for a real long time. I think you have realized you HAVE to LET GO!
My Retinopathy stopped me, the though of not being alive or blind when my daughter graduates, marries, or not being able to see any grandchildren, scared the living daylights out of me.

Hi Shellbelly and welcome to the forums :) I'ma similar age to you, and like you my mum took care of me when I was little. I also went "off track" for many years, only really managed to kind of sort myself out in the last year. My retinopthy is the result of my neglect so please pleas do whatever you can to manage your blood sugars. This forum is FANTASTIC! Everybody is so lovely and it is brilliant help!! If you ever want to chat pm me.

Sorry, Michele, I forgot to warn you about the little group of PREverts Here. While admittedly, I am at times, their Spiritual Advisor----I'm not sure I'm allowed in the meetings any more.

Hey, Shellybella (love the name)!! I'm glad you found us, too. This is a fantastic site that I'm sure will help you if you let it. There is lots of kknowledge and understanding here. I doubt that you can post something that someone else here has not been through. Just know that we are here for each other.
I'm a type 2 with much less experience at this than you have. I was diagnosed at age 40 in the midst of the pregnancy and then become type 2 a couple years later. Since you are type 1 we are some different, but have a lot of the same issues. I've needed help getting back on track many times and I am not 100% there yet. It's a demanding disease that takes persistance and I know what you are saying when you say "Now I am at the point that I don't feel like dealing with this whole stupid diabetes thing anymore." But this too shall pass.
I hope to see you on the forum often. Join in the fun as well as the serious sharing. It's not all seriousness here at all. We have our share of fun and games.
