I had an insulin reaction about 3 hours ago. After recovering from it, I noticed that my left eye burned and is blurred. Anyone have any ideas what might be the problem? I'm wondering if maybe I've popped some blood vessels or something like that.

I know blurred vision , floaters and all that have to do with a low. I dont know why it has lasted so long.. have you kept checking or did it drop too low?

It burns very badly, as if it's been scratched but the thing that worries me is the vision in that eye is still blurred and I came out of the insulin reaction about 5:30 central time this afternoon.

Did you get anything in it, rub it, scratch it somehow? At this point, you should definitely be recovered.

Gee, I'm sorry to hear of your reaction/eye problem. There are a
few reasons, of course, why it would feel burning and blurry, and
none of these are probably correct in your case:

1. As Cinnabon said lows can give you blurry eyes, especially if it's
a bad one.
2. If the blurriness is clear not dark gray or black, then you probably
didn't bust a blood vessel.
3. When you have a bad reaction, as you know, your eyes can roll
back and perhaps stretch the eye muscle farther than it's used to.
4. Sometimes when someone has a reaction their eyes remain open
and staring. So if you were to fall face-first, say on the rug, while
having the reaction, a person might scratch their eye on the rug.
That would cause burning and the eye liquids would flow to try to
repair the eye which would cause blurriness, even after it was done.
5. IF you have scar tissue(I know this one) from laser treatments,
eye surgury or an eye injury and you have a reaction, it will cause
burning/pain, and some blurriness for a while. It takes a while for
mine to go away (a couple hours) but everyone's different.
All I can think of for now, LG. Sorry again that this happened to you.
I sure hope your eye is back to normal soon. If it's not, you should try
to see your Ophthamologist to get it checked out. :)

for lgvincent
whenever my blood sugar is too low (around 40-50) I have difficulty in seeing. The lower it is, the worse my eyesight; but as my blood sugar rises after a low (and I do drink a capri sun) my eye sight gets back to normal. I can suggest you talk to your doctor about it and see what they say about it; but I wouldnt worry about it as long as your eyesight gets back to normal after the blood sugar is normal again.

i get that burned feeling in back of my eyes when going low. Its like a bright light that just stays there even after closing my eyes. It goes away after my sugar goes up. Is this anything what you experienced vincent? And now it stuck around?

No, this burning sensation was on the surface of the eye. It turns out I scratched it. I'm happy to say the blurred vision ended but only after about 14 hours had passed. I've since gotten a new prescription for glasses filled. For the price I paid, I was hoping for those x-ray glasses like they used to show in the back of comic-books back in the 60's. Unfortunately, the only time they work is when I watch the Playboy Channel. The rest of the time, I'm still unable to see through the girl's clothing. :(

I've been having highs lately. Averaging in the 140s to 170s. I've noticed my vision is kind of blurry when reading road signs, and things at a bit of a distance. Say over 10 feet. I had lasik surgery 10/18/04. I was diagnosed w/type 1 on 1/14/06 so this is new for me. I see most people think it is caused by lows. I did have a low over the weekend, but it was only 60. I also have the burning tired feeling.

I've also started using the bathroom again 3-4 times at night.

Is this something that will happen often. Will it correct istself in a few days, or is it something I really need to worry about?

PS - How do you actually post your own question. I don't want to hog someone elses space.
