Best Infusion Set for Animas IR1250

Cleo90 for sure. Check out Smiths Medical website.

The Inset by Unomedical are good to.

The Cleo90 has a waiting list of 90 day's due to large demand and the recent release.

I'm wearing my very first set today, an Inset. It was easy to put in yesterday, is comfortable (don't feel it), no problems so far... <<crossed fingers>>

I use Comfort fit 43 inch tubign Infusion Set that I order from Animas. I have a friend who is using the cleo 90 and he is going to give me a few to try.

My daughter uses the inset system with 9mm canulas from Animas and is quite happy with them. There is no pain on insertion and they are great for someone not comfortable manually inserting the needle/canula. I think that it would be interesting if someone who has used both the inset and cleo90 could compare them for us.

Cleo 90:

Advantage's -


Small Insertion Device that is Ergonomically designed.

Ability to attach wire 360 degrees.

Insertion is virtually Painless and there is no chance of Accidental Needle Pricks (Needle is not Visible at all).

Extremely Comfortable.


Disadvantage's -

Have to hold Insertion Device against skin for 5 seconds before releasing.
Attaching the wire to the site at 360 degrees is a little trickier than normal Infusion Sets.

Inset:

Advantage's -

Insertion Device is easy to use and comfortable.
Multiple Colors (If you like that kind of thing).
Easy Connect & Disconnect from site.

Disadvantage's -

I personally scar easier with this set.
Insertion Device is a little bulky & does not go in as smooth as the Cleo 90 does.
Not as comfortable over 3 day's compared to Cleo.

These are by far the best 2 Set's on the market in my opinion and both will do great. However, I prefer the Cleo over the Inset

I just changed over to the inset after using Minimed's Soft-sert for 7 years. This thing is fantastic. the little adhesive pad sticks like nothing else. the whole thing is tinier than what I'm used to. and the best thing is that the packaging is actually the insertion device also. so you're never without your inserting device. Here are some pics of it I grabbed from a website to show you the device.

I use the 6mm and the 42" line. I'm rather thin, and the 6mm is better; I'm also tall so the 42" is a must on the line.

I forgot to say: I've currently got the 6mm, and I'm not thin. :T

I put in my second set today before lunch. (My pump trainer wants me to practice doing these several times this week, so there's less for me to stress about when I go "live" with insulin.) Yesterday's set was the 23" sample. It drove me crazy, and I'm only 5'5". Too short in the lady's room, too short to hold the pump up where I could read it (near-sighted). I definitely like the 42" line better.

The MM Quick Sets stick like gangbusters too. (Now if I can avoid the bent cannula syndrome afflicting me this week as never before in 10 years of pumping...)

I've been sent a 6 months supply of the 9 mm unomedical inset. First 1/3 was in the opened box that arrived last week. The remainder is in the unopened box that arrived yestereday. Perhaps I'll call the supply company and let them know that I may be returning for either the 6 mm version or for the cleo if I don't like them after I start next week. I'll update date you then... Let the fun begin!
