What's the proper procedure for removing the inset infusion set? With the iv prep and the sticky tape of the infusion set I imagine it's not easy. The pump slipped today from the case and the infusion set did not become dislodged when it fell. It hung in there nice and tight.

Animas sent some adhesive remover (in an orange/white box similar to the IV prep) that I have used a few times. For me, after 3 days of wear, the adhesive removes fairly easy (can still hurt sometimes). I usually pull the adhesive up on all side of the plastic and then just take it off. If it's I think it's really stuck, I either wait until I'm in the shower or use the adhesive remover. If it hurts just pulling it off, the adhesive remover will work well for you - though it seems to leave a sticky residue afterwards that I don't get when just peeling it off.

I find the easiest way is to remove it in the shower or after working out. The tape will then be a little looser and you can pull it right off. Another idea might be to just take a wash cloth, get it wet, stick it in the microwave a few to heat it up, and then let it sit on it for a few minutes. After time you may get use to the pain of just peeling it off normally. Unfortunately for guys, we have hair on the chest, so that makes it hurt. I guess you could say we know what a wax treatment for a woman feels like.

Thomas uses unisolve that we get from Animas. Before we ordered it though we went to walmart and picked up some goo gone.

I tried IV prep the first day I started pumping. On the third day when I went to change the infusion set, I couldn't get the darn thing off. Needless to say, I am NOT using the IV prep anymore! LOL

I go around lifting the entire adhesive to loosen it up. Then, just like a bandaid, I pull it off quickly.

I use the IV Prep, and it works pretty well. Although, I have noticed lately that when I take off the infusion set, it leaves a red circle mark on my stomach where the tape used to be. The shower idea is a great idea though because you are supposed to clean the area that you put the infusion set in before you insert it anyways. So, it kills 2 birds with one stone! :2in1: Usually, I try to get it wet at first, but I have been changing my sets at work a lot lately and so there isn't always time to do that.

I got an easy way..............RIP IT OUT!!!!

I don't sit there and wet it nor do I talk to it nice, I just rip it out.

1...2...3...GO! Although, I have the quick sets so I'm not quite sure if your set is more complicated.

me too. About 5 or so scratches with my fingernail to raise an edge, and then a QUICK pull straight up and out.

Usually by day 3 for me the edges are starting to raise so it's very easy to grab a hold and pull straight out.

hmmm...I had a difficult time keeping soft sets in place w/o IV3000 and Skin prep, but have never had one edge lift on a Quick Set, even with long hot showers every day, or swimming. I thought I was the worlds most difficult person to keep a set on until I started using the QS.

I'm the queen of baths! ;) I also stopped using the IV3000 during the colder months and I also haven't used Skin Prep wipes lately.

The only time I'm immersed in water is when I tip over a jet ski! :)
