Is there any better software for the animas pump? :(

Right now for pumps and BG meters I believe the only software is the software the company makes themselves. No outside sources make any software. And unfortunately, they are all very primitive and sometimes I've seen better software on a DOS only machine.

Pitiful isn't it! I'm a software developer and I know I could develop something far better in a couple months if I knew the proprietary interfaces of these devices...

How's your pumping going? Are you getting your basals dialed in?

Another adjustment for the DP this morning. We'll see how if it helps. Have not been able to complete the 2nd evening basal test yet. Going to jump into the bolus testing before I finish all the basal testing as I think it's critical to bolus correctly. Trainer wanted me to change the insulin:carb ratio from 1:6 to 1:4 but I'm a little leary before I do that bolus testing. While on MDI I was 2:15. 1:4 would equate to 4:16!

I think you've got the ratios backwards. The carb/insulin ratio is expressed as the number of carbs covered by a unit of insulin. Example: I take one unit of insulin for every 10 carbs I eat. That's expressed as a ratio of "10:1" or you could write it as 10g/1U.

In any event, I see you are taking a LOT of insulin to cover your food. You must be IR?

That depends on who you ask. I've always heard to it referred to as an insulin to carb ratio, therefore I'm on a 1:19 ratio for most of the day.

You are right. I just looked in Walsh's book and he uses your method. The MiniMed books use the method I mentioned. Not only that, but I had dsylexia when I read Cyborg's ratio. I'm more used to the MM method of expressing the ratios, I guess.

It's just one of those differences that exist that make talking about treatment methods harder. Not many standards exist, personally, I hate even having mg/dl and mmol. To me those two are just because America wanted to be different. If mg/dl were truely used to follow American standards then it would be something besides miliGRAMS and deciLITERS.
